Do we really think Trudeau's got the bottle to do a Boris?

Britain ignored the US to welcome Huawei. Can Canada do the same with 5G and Meng Wanzhou’s trial?

  • The British cabinet rebuffed intense US lobbying over the Chinese tech firm, driving a wedge into the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance
  • There are lessons for PM Justin Trudeau as Canada looks to develop its mobile phone infrastructure amid legal proceedings over Meng’s extradition

US lift sanctions on COSCO VLCCs. It proved to be a bad idea sanctioning one of COSCO's tanker arms. It took two dozen VLCCs off the world markets, and the shipping rates for crude oil went up to historic highs as a consequence, making shipping crude oil from the US not competitive.

The tankers were originally sanctioned for continuing to do business with Iran.

The US has no choice. What if China decides to send those sanctioned VLCCs to pick up the oil from the US purchased as a result of the Phase I US-China Trade Agreement ? Turn them back ?

To stretch it a bit further, what if China set up an energy import entity and financial entity exclusively to purchase energy products from just the US and Iran. Is US going to sanction those companies and refuse to sell energy product to China ?

There was not one but a few companies that the US sanctioned that alleged transported oil from Iran. One of them was lifted within two weeks after the sanctioned. There was another company that was unsanctioned but still one company that remains sanctioned, all organs of COSCO. You can see they are very precise in trying to sanction because no one can afford a wholesale sanction of COSCO as that would tank international trade in general. And it was since September that the oil shipping prices went ballistic and the US shale industry tanked as a result as their products becomes globally uncompetitive. Add to China not buying from the US, and you have this scenario.

More sensational headline, but if you read on, it's a complete waste of time, with no proof what so ever.

But it serve a purpose, the average Joe isn't going to spend their valuable time down the bar to bother to read any of this, but what they remember is the headlines!

If there's an actual smoking gun it should be really simple right? Their agency finds the proofs, then share it to five eyes, and finally get them convinced. Given the UK's decision we can safely assume that this scenario doesn't happen :D

Like lol what's the point of having an intel sharing alliance if you don't share anything. They treat it so highly and preciously as well by threatening to disband it thinking that it would be enough to convince UK, yet the functionality of the program itself is questionable in this case..
