I would not call it a failure. It will likely sell a lot more than several equivalent aircraft.
It is just that it is an obsolete design compared to the Embraer E-Jet series or the A220. And still uses a lot of foreign components. It is a step in the right direction but basically uses a technology base from the early 1990s.
