AEP-500. will it deliver in 2028 ? in 2018 general perception about final delivery indeed was 2028 but embargo from Canada in 2020 have changed entire plan. engine will be certified way sooner than 2028.
What will they do in order to certify "way sooner" ?

AEP-500 design finished in 2019 and first prototype rolled off from assembly line in 2020. small scale trial production has completed in 2021 and 3 units have produced. all ground testing have completed too. this year engine will be in the air for last critical step before certification. it wont take six more years. that was my point.

at the end of 2024 or early 2025 all will be done.

2028 date is really exaggerated. now tell you why. AES-100 and AEP-500 projects approved in 2016 , officially announced publicly in 2018. at that time, China was in mid of engine tech Revolution. things changed really fast so all projects accelerated.

High resolution images from AG600M's successful water drop test. The amount of water gathered and then dumped was 12 tons.

Posting some lost images with some additional information gleaned from various sources over the years.

In 2010, COMAC established the Northern Research Center (北研中心), which immediately began a next generation regional airliner demonstration project. The result is the Lingque B (灵雀B) concept featuring large blended wing strakes and a V-tail.

In 2014, the North Research Center built the world's first five-sided full glass curtain immersive virtual simulation system named C-CAVE (images 4 and 5). It allows Northern Research Center to carry out VR design studies for the next generation regional airliner.

Of course, this effort by COMAC is separate from the blended wing body concepts being studied by the the Northwestern Polytechnical University, which feature dorsally mounted engines.
