Would have been clever to choose something like the XF-32 with the same type of lift system than F-35 lift fan for the STOL side of things...Are there tha many? Av-8b+![]()

Odly UK removed rolling landing from their books... but some say it will be back.Chinas STOL has the potential to solve some issues, given Chinas EMAL LHD could allow a take off with greater fuel and payload compared to ski jump or flat top take off in western LHDs.
UK found out they can also land with a higher payload by doing a rolling landing, China once again can take this an extra step further and do an even great rolling landing using arrested gear since the EMAL LHDs allowe that option.
There are many ways to do that better, that's for certain. Harrier ii is a cheap path taken almost 50 years ago, not even allowed to change 1960s engine.Would have been clever to choose something like the F-36 with the same type of lift system than F-35 for the STOL side of things...
Yeah 3 jets in one, the F-35 was a full bag of compromises... A compound helicopter design would be one of the best slow drones hunters and CAS system combining some speed with its helicopter capabilities. There are many ways to do that better, that's for certain. As a result, money and energy weren't spent on oversized internal guns, elaborate armor or anything - which yook more volume than VTOL. Only on things that matter for poor usmc.
As a result, it's super relevant right into type retirement: send it hunting shaheds, it will do it perfectly. I.e. it's potentially way more relevant than the replacing f-35b.
I disagree given the "飞推一体" wording. That particular document could simply just be focused on the gas turbine component of the whole engine. To clarify, the bidding document actually refers to the reverse engineering of key components for the gas generator/core engine of the integrated lift-thrust system. I believe this likely pertains to the F135-100 engine from the F-35C that crashed in the South China Sea in 2022.
VTOL is useless ever since helcopter existed. Change my mind.
And what VTOL tech could they even get from an F35c it has none.I disagree given the "飞推一体" wording. That particular document could simply just be focused on the gas turbine component of the whole engine.
