China's strategy in Korean peninsula

China does not persuade NK to cancel the meeting if that is what the influence allegation all about.

Instead, China understand why NK made such move and will not blame NK for it, and further China demand the other parties to appreciate what NK has done so far and walk their half way to meet NK.

When it comes to NK's reservations regarding the trustworthiness of the US, as well as SK, let's note the context of current US behavior regarding the Iran deal, intervening in the civil war in Syria, as well as the case of Libya, together with SK's inability to behave like an independent country vis-a-vis the US to this day. It's important to remember the situation on the Korean peninsula is an unresolved civil war with ongoing US intervention.

A wise Chinese saying is: "It is unimportant whether one talks much or little, the key point is that one should speak to a useful purpose". A good reference to President Trump and Chairman Kim impending talks in Singapore. Hopefully it would take place.

I'm watching Trump live on TV talking to the media with the South Korean President at the White House. He thinks the second meeting between Xi and Kim was suspicious because it was a surprise. The first meeting was a surprise. He's suggesting China is sabotaging the upcoming summit because all of the sudden the North Koreans have this change in attitude. That's spin. John Bolton was throwing pre-conditions out there last week. The Libyan example was brought up by White House and US government officials in recent weeks. Of course sociopaths don't see that so it must've been China sabotaging the summit. They want good faith yet the US and South Korea still are going to carry out planned military exercises aimed to send a message to North Korea. Yeah it's all China's fault...

Trump should be thankful to President Xi for his possible advice to Chairman Kim - that's my take. Even if the talk between Trump & Kim takes place, the sage Fan Hua's wise words are appropriate: "Things that grow fast will soon die; success that is achieved easily will not last long". Stop the insults/rhetoric by throwing the spanner/s in the work/s.

And don't forget how Trump said if China helped on North Korea he would look away on trade issues. By Trump's own words via Twitter China was a big help on North Korea and I saw Mike Pompeo on TV after Trump's conference with the South Korean President today proclaiming China gave "historical unprecedented" help on North Korea and Trump still slapped tariffs on China. I know what it really meant and that was Trump is giving credit to himself that he got China to do all this unlike any other President before him. They're saying Trump is angry that he might not get a Nobel Peace Prize now. Does he really deserve it if that's what's important to him aside from their own interpretation that North Korea is coming to the table because of all of Trump's threats to use the military?

China expects smooth DPRK-U.S. summit

China expects that the summit between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States will go smoothly with positive outcomes, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.

"We have always been encouraging and supporting the U.S. and the DPRK to accumulate mutual trust through direct dialogue, so as to advance denuclearization of the Korean peninsula through political means," spokesperson Lu Kang said at a daily press briefing.

Lu's comment came after U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday hinted that his scheduled meeting with the top leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Un, originally set to be held on June 12, may be delayed.

Currently, there is a hard-earned historical opportunity for resolving the Korean Peninsula issue through political means, Lu said, adding that preparations for the summit are still being made by the two sides.

"We hope that all the relevant sides, particularly the DPRK and the U.S., will seize the opportunity, meet each other halfway, suppress interference and address each others' concerns in a balanced way," Lu said. "We still expect that DPRK-U.S. summit will go smoothly and achieve positive outcomes."

China is committed to facilitating peace talks on the Korean Peninsula issue and will only play a positive role, Lu said.

I believe there's a chance for the summit and there's a chance for a deal. I believe Kim is serious this time, otherwise we wouldn't go this far.

the core issue now is: how much the US is willing to give for the deal? Bolton and Pence want illusional unconditional deal, that's not going to happen, and assurances and carrots are not going to help either. nukes and missiles didn't come cheap for Kim, he wont give them up without the US making major concession on security.
