Payloads carried : JL-1satellite and two CubeSats XY-S1 and Caton-1. The KZ-1A was developped from the Kuaizhou-1 rocket with improvements in adaptability. It is a low-cost solid-fuelled carrier rocket with high reliability and short preparation period and was designed to launch low-orbit satellites weighing under 300 kg.

The JL-1 is a multifunctional remote-sensing satellite providing sub-meter high-definition video images which is expected to be used for land resource and forestry surveying, environmental protection, transport and disaster prevention and relief purposes. Field of view: 11km by 4.5 km

The XY-S1 and Caton-1 are experimental satellites to test technologies of low-orbit narrow-band communication and VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) respectively.

Just educated guesswork or something more?

What sort of payload would such a configuration offer without the boosters? Comparable to Falcon Heavy (55 ton to LEO)?

It's rather credible, from a study/article whose authors are from the Beijing Institute of Astronautical Systems Engineering, and CALT, talking about future development plans.

One of the authors, Long Lehao was the chief designer of CZ-5.

Very interesting. Just going by Wikipedia, the first stage plus boosters would seem to offer significantly greater thrust (5760 tons) than the first stage of Saturn V (3580 tons).

Just saw the news. Certainly everywhere is talking about building a 10000 ton solar power plant with 2.5 million megawatt output on orbit. They estimate it will take 386 CZ-9 launch in a time span of 3.2 years.

If this is more than some media hype. If this ever come true, it will certainly change the world forever.

And only one anti-satellite missile to destroy it all in time of war. That's way too much capacity in a vulnerable location to build for such a big price tag, assuming it can even be done in the first place.
