China's SCS Strategy Thread

The strategy is to secure the borders and the area near the borders. Taiwan is less important as an entity of China than it is as a place where a foreign nation can stage forces. This is why China is doing what it is doing in the SCS. It wants to push any potential fight as far off its shows as it can.
China is inherently restricted because of its geography. This is why I support a 2050+ expansionist plan to secure various strategic land locations.

Number 1 priority should be cutting Myanmar in half in order for the PLA to get access to the Indian Ocean.

People can shout all they want about China getting its military powerful in the future, but the moment you open a map, you can see how severely limiting China's geography is in regards to marine trade.

The PLA must, one way or another, have permanent and secure land access to the Indian Ocean.

I am not a warmonger or anything but this is a vital strategic need for China. China cannot depend on other countries' goodwill for its lifelin

This can happen, by either directly invading Myanmar, or splitting it in half thus creating a full puppet country which will allow the PLA to have bases there

I disagree, @voyager1. Just using the positions that China has already, the country will be strong enough in the South China Sea to intimidate the US;

, "by 2030, the Chinese fleet [in the SCS] may be twice the size of America's". There is no need for China to grab territory in Southeast Asia.

Your "advice" for China is often very bad:
  1. You wanted China to counter Western propaganda by also lying, thereby destroying the country's greatest weapon, the truth.
  2. You continue to disparage ALL the countries around China, including even Russia. Your goal is clearly to isolate the Middle Kingdom.
  3. And now you recommend that China starts invading other countries. Even the threat of such an invasion would frighten the countries into the American orbit.
Therefore, CIA fan, you are actually hostile to China's interests, however much you pretend to cheer for the Middle Kingdom.

Haha. You are saying you aren’t a warmonger but want to split Myanmar. What a evil plan. May be China will be allowed to create a naval base in Myanmar if China helps in economic development of myanmar & make a defense treaty.

Maynmar is already up to flames in case you haven't noticed. But yes keep thinking that China will be accepted to set up bases and have them secure.

I assume you have already seen how the world has propagandised against China inside Maynmar.
Now the Democratic faction inside Maynmar is against China.

Anyway, lets end this here as it is offtopic

He is very likely a member of intelligence. I know no Chinese would think or see things like that at all. Remember how COINTELPRO & Operation Mockingbird conducted by both agencies that neutralized the entire American left & pushed the neoliberalism to its zenith in 40 years. Most Democrats embrace & adore capitalism. This kind of operations are working on overdrive worldwide.

Well no need to occupy other country But need to built infrastructure that will support fast troop and material movement. Nothing is better than railway. China has a plan to connect Kyaukpau port with Yunnan. China almost completed the china section to the border town. Before the coup the Aungsang Syukee administration sign the deal to built the railway. But the junta throw the wrench into the plan. In case of Malacca strait blockade China can ask Myanmar for safe passage thru the Mynamar.

But China has completed the Laos railway that can do facilitate the troop movement in case of emergency in Malacca strait. But again the Thai is dragging their feet on connecting it to Thai railway all the way down to Malaysia . They have plan for railway from Bangkok to Malaysia.

The first leg from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima is under construction now The Thai is building it themselves using China technology But the second leg from Nakhon To Nong Khai at Laos border is still up in the air

Just a thought. Do you base the whole post on the above? In case of national emergency and for survival, you base an entire country on goodwill from Maynmar? What if China asks, and Maynmar says no? How can you guarantee that Maynmar will say yes? What if the US comes and offers Maynmar 10 bln in cash to decline?

What then?

What will you do? What if Maynmar also accepts US troops for protection?

As you can see there are many what if questions. I dont think this is a logical proposition, putting an entire country's (economic) survival to the goodwill of another (unstable) country.

I am not close-minded, instead I am open to hearing ideas about how China can avoid a situation where it has to ask someone in order to save itself from a potential blockade.

There is precedent in WWII German ask the Swiss for safe passage thru Switzerland either you relent or you got invaded The swiss just have no choice It is not goodwill. It is an offer you just can't refuse the offer!

China has alot of lever in case of Myanmar basically the northern Myanmar is defacto under China control they use renminbi as legal tender , The Shan army is train and equipped by ex PLA soldier , most of the population are Han Chinese and even more with the immigration, mandarin is the language spoken on the street.
