China's SCS Strategy Thread

China needs to think and act more strategically on this. What does China want to do and accomplish with all these show and actions? Philippines obviously knows how China will react in these encounters and that's why they have reporters with them. China's watercannoning of these ships will not stop them from doing it again. Therefore China needs to react and do something permanent to stop these temporary charades. As I have said before, China needs to warn Macros and his military leaders that any further instigation from Philippine's side will force China to react and build more islands to protect its rights and interests. And when Philippine refuses to heed the warning and continues with these acts then China should make the Second Thomas Shoal a big island, with the grounded BRP Sierra Madre in its lagoon.

Because China's PR suck donkeys and this issue are being used by others to attack and damage China's global image and create problem between China and other ASEAN countries.

China needs to resolve this permanently, even if it needs to apply some economy, military and political forces.

However painful it might be, this wound will only heal when it is cauterized.

What sort of P.R. do you have in mind that can persuade the intended audience which is THE GLOBAL NORTH which is immaterial to the dispute amongst claimant nations of which China is the biggest and most powerful country. The rest of ASEAN and other relevant countries within the region with the exceptions of U.S. vassals and sell ours (Japan and Taiwan) find the PH position unhelpful and damaging to the economic activity, dynamism, and growth the region is experiencing. Check the outgoing Singapore's P.M. remark on this issue.

What's the PH economic contributions to the rest of ASEAN countries that they are willing to abandon their economic partnerships with China to get involve on a dispute about rocks?

They have its called Longevity strategy. The won't leave cause they owned the SCS and they're our neighbor. The question should be ask if the US, Australia and Japan can logistically sustained it.

Can the Philippines continue doing it with its limited resources in such a vast front?
Because China's PR suck donkeys and this issue are being used by others to attack and damage China's global image and create problem between China and other ASEAN countries.
And yet the Philippine were frustrated that NO ASEAN members support her, based on your logic Indonesia the ASEAN powerhouse , Malaysia and Vietnam all claimants in the SCS should be on the frontline doing joint patrols and yet Only those few friends from afar with nefarious intent are the one stirring trouble.

Being different from the Collective West is a major appeal to China, whatever happen we need to co exist not to annihilate and subjugate, it isn't the Chinese way and we have the history to back it up.

Look the US can't sustained itself in the Pacific, with huge obligation around the world who will they prioritized? the Philippines? hope you're right cause from the way the US acted we're at the bottom of the queue.

A year to replace off-the-shelf commercial radar and other assorted navigation and communications gear? That’s a bit shocking to be honest. Or is that due to the budget/costs of funding the replacements as opposed to time needed to actually do the repairs?
Yes sir, that boat came from Japan, the way it works is that the Japanese will send some expert, study the damage, make a report (we don't have the expertise and maybe that boat is under warrantee....lol) . After that the Philippine will make a decision of either replacing the radar with cannibalized parts while allocating some fund to be included for the next year budget. That is the optimum time frame, either way it's a mission kill, base from past experience that boat will be in harbor for a long time.

Personally, I have imagined scenarios in which China takes the Second Thomas Shoal - during military exercises - in response to the next USA provocation in Taiwan.

However, I think the shoal isn't actually that valuable in military terms? It's more symbolic. Correct me if wrong.

Instead, the purpose of the water cannons is to put low-intensity pressure on the Philippines. This is as a response to BBM creating a bunch of USA military bases for the USA to bomb and blockade China.
