@ansy1968 you have been living in the Philippines for most, if not all of your life, including your parents. The average Filipino are very nationalistic and pro-American which is contradictory in itself. While China has certainly risen in all areas of tech and military the average Filipinos especially those of baby boomer generation and even generation x sees China as some sort of inferior quality country, political system and therefore people. This latest incident have not at all dampen their enthusiasm of wishing and wanting to escalate against the CCG/PLAN. As a matter of anecdotal proof one has to simply read all the commentaries from the PHILIPPINE media and social media sites like X (Twitter), Facebook, TIKTOK, and YouTube.
My generation bro, my parents and I had lived thru it, it's ugly BUT it makes me a better person cause it teaches me to fight back. It's a character building experience that is worth in gold. Now my children generation will be different, like I said being Chinese is beautiful, those people you mentioned in MSM and social media were paid to do a job, is it effective? well people are so busy earning a living and surviving the day that they don't have the time to indulge. Those people who indulges themselves are few in numbers and are mostly jobless, living with their parents and their wealth. (having internet connection are not cheap and only in MM had an intensive coverage)
On a more personal anecdote, my colleague who's Filipino but a sane and rational one keeps having to debate his father who's residing in the Philippines by informing his father that China has escalatory dominance, military superiority that dwarfs over the PH. That if it wasn't for the U.S. meddling and prodding the PH government wouldn't be acting this aggressive since the disparity of power is just very lopsided. His father on the other hand would have none of these reasonings. He asserted that China is very arrogant and must be taught a lesson since it's trying to claim a piece of the PH (natural resources). This person was a Duterte supporter but has been persuaded to go anti-China since the flare ups started to occur with more frequency.
When this administration is gone you will see a change in attitude and the clock is tickling fast for it to happen because of his incompetency and greed.
The misinformation, information campaign are not directed against China exclusively, but more directly to the emotional beings and psychology of the average Filipinos. It's not directed to people like you who's not simply of Chinese stock but of higher educational background, well-read, and well-travelled. The number of people in your socio-economic strata in the PH is not large enough to dispel and dissuade the lare masses in the PH that still cling to old stereotypes about CHINA. That's why in my opinion the situation in the PH may have to get worse in order for it to get better. Meaning, in my view, the country must be taught a lesson that your country's power is not at all in the same hairband and that the illusion of American might can't and will not solve this unfortunate issue without the PH being dunked on metaphorically and figuratively.
But its different from the common TAO cause in everyone of them there is a relative working abroad as OFW, they're maltreated, abused and even rape, those are being filtered down so they learn to empathized with us. Look the weak always followed the strong, its all due to desperation, if you want to climb the social ladder you need to conform, that is what the American had created here the DEPENDENCY Factor. They want you to stay weak so that leash will forever be there, why is the Hua Qiao and the Taipan can think rationally cause we bonded together to be economically independent, knowing there is no one but ourself to help each other.

Just look at the IDIOCY AND WHINING from the morons that runs the PH political class. Not to mention the pretentious intellectual class that have been hyping the China threat for quite sometime having Pikachu faces: they are surprised with the paltry sum of $500 Million which is more or less 1% of the aid package recently passed in Congress to be doled out primarily for American MIC and the rest to Ukraine and Israel.

So are you telling me that for $500 Million the PH sovereignty can be sold off that cheaply? And that money is not even going to benefit their military since it'll be used to purchase EXPENSIVE AND USELESS AMERICAN ARMAMENTS. The maintenance costs alone will kill their budget for the military. Filipinos will be left behind by it's ASEAN neighbors the way it's going.

Addendum: The PH gov't and in my opinion Filipinos writ large have big mouth for bird brains. They arrogantly assume that in terms of pecking order in terms of the countries list of importance to the U.S. that they top the list. Where do they based this delusions? WWII. NUTS!!

Take tourism for example before the pandemic happened the tourism ECONOMIC contribution to the PH was 22.5% or $9.6 Billion USD. The top 2 leading international tourists were from SK and China at almost 2 Million visitors each. The tourism sector alone provide millions of jobs which was almost over 10 MILLION jobs back in 2019, the number has dropped down to just over 5 million jobs in 2023. Now, If we check the number of Chinese tourists that visited the PH last year it has dramatically been reduced to just a little over 200,000. Less visitors = less $$.

Now compared that with Vietnam, Thailand these 2 countries received 23 million international tourists for Thailand and 12 million for Vietnam. The excuse of COVID post pandemic can't be used to justify such drastic differences. Considering that Vietnam people don't speak English as their official language!!

Now, these sappy morons who keep using for political prop the Fishermen in the PH. The economic contribution to the PH economy is at a paltry 1.6% proving some 1.6 million jobs. The ECON contribution and importance between the 2 industries couldn't be much starker. And yet, the country is being led to believe that the issue between China and the PH is about fisheries, and land grab? Lol

@plawolf Sir here it is we have to shell out PHP3 million for repairs.

MANILA – Damage to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel that was hit by China’s water cannon could reach an estimated P2 to P3 million, with the Philippine government expected to shoulder the repairs, a PCG official said on Thursday.

Speaking to the media during BRP Bagacay’s arrival at Cunanan Wharf, Commodore Arnaldo Lim, the acting commander of PCG Manila at Central Luzon Districts, said the LED panel took a direct hit during the incident and was completely damaged.

The canopy and the railings on the ship’s bridge were also destroyed. Some navigational equipment, like a satellite compass, have also been damaged.
“Hindi 'yan nagagalaw. Sa sobrang tigas ng bakal na ito kasi ginagawa natin ito – kapag… battle, kapag umaakyat ang mga US Armed Forces, especially US Coast Guard, hindi 'yan nagagalaw,” Lim said.
(The railings cannot be moved and these are very sturdy. These are also used for practice combats by the US Armed Forces and the US Coast Guard so it was constructed to be sturdy.)
“Ngayon sa sobrang lakas ng tubig, nabuwal at nasira ang LED screen display natin. Ito ang nagwe-welcome at nagbibigay ng babala ‘hindi puwede mangisda dito,’ ito yung LED screen na puwede mag-broadcast 'yung mga gusto nating sabihin,” he added.
(Because of the impact, the LED screen display was destroyed. This shows the messages we want to broadcast such as ‘you cannot fish in this area.’)
Repairs will start as soon as possible by the Coast Guard Commander Fleet, he said.
Asked if China will shoulder the cost for the repairs, the PCG official said, “I don’t think ‘yung kabilang kapitbahay natin ang magbabayad nito. The government will.”
(I don’t think our neighbor will pay for this.)

They will cannibalized some spare parts BUT from where? Will the Philippines continue this action and afford this kind of losses? And will they also arm water cannon to counter the CCG? From the reports BRP BAGACAY is sandwich by two CCG firing their water cannon simultaneously and the Chinese didn't use maximum force as seen from the video, there is some restrain and hopefully the Philippines will learn and act rationally from here on.

Those fund will be used to construct those extra bases, a used F16 will cost at minimum $20 million dollars, that's for the airframe it doesn't include the upgrade electronics and maintenance. Since our Airforce is more Air than Force, it will remain so as those F16 are hanger queen just like the F8 crusader displayed at Basa Airbase.

Dream of almost all pinay babaes (i`m a fan of pinay babaes too i must admit) is to marry western guys and leave Philippines. Luckily for some, there are lot of US soldiers there now, so if no marry, at least gonna be so much kantutan with US soldiers ;)
All those fake numbers of 70+ percent of pinoys gonna rush to war with china is nothing but cheap propaganda by US and vasal Marcos. I know lot of pinays and wast majority of them are pretty much aware of current situation and real attentions of US, a level of development and power of China, none wants any conflicts with China...

You seem to be familiar with some Filipino Tagalog words. Did you happen to live/work in the PH some time ago?

Not lived/work, just a tourist visit, and as i said, i know lot of Filipino girls, beside those i met there, also through online and some who lives and work in my country. I can say that i know lot about PH, and its real pitty to let whole country with enormous potential to become a hostage of one man and his vasal politics to US, instead of strong healthy development and cooperation with rest of ASEAN and especially China. China is strong superfast growing superpower in PH neighborhood, at the other hand US is dying empire so far away whose only interest is to turn PH to Asian Ukraine in order to achieve some points against China, using PH blood and flesh, what i hope will never happen.
