The local governments, and even the central government, have screwed themselves by allowing Foxconn to grow its Zhengzhou campus this big. It has become a "too big to fail" monster for the locals and the governments.

The governments should have limited the max size of industrial campuses early on and made Foxconn, and others, to spread investments over multiple cities in different provinces.
Henan's economic orientation is "agriculture", so the construction is subject to strict and unfair treatment.
In order to build a university town, Henan bears a huge political risk: expanding construction land in violation of regulations.

In order to obtain employment, the Henan government exchanged a humiliating condition for Foxconn's industrial zone. We don't know what the specific conditions are, but now we can see that the local government has become a servant of Foxconn.

Judging by people's fury stemming from the Urumqi fire across Weibo and WeChat, perhaps it's time to wave the national flag of the People's Republic of China and hold up the portrait of Mao Zedong across Chinese cities and towns?

This Zero COVID policy needs a deep rethink.

Perhaps they should watch their elderly get Covid and see they succumbing slowly?

If I was detained in zero covid lockdown for 3 months I would riot also and my trust in government would fall to zero.
Perhaps you'd be quieter and more agreeable if you were dead or hospitalized for 3 months... or busy taking care of an elderly in your family who suffered permanent damage from COVID.
Right now zero covid cause social unrest, and the long earned support for CPC is decreasing.

I wouldn't trust fringe tweets. The majority of Chinese people know that Zero COVID saved the country from a fate worse than what was seen in the West and are supportive of it. Asking those who are rioting due to lack of discipline to determine that trust in the government is waning is like asking people at a Flat Earth Convention whether they think their theory is gaining popularity.

I am in the country with the least restriction on the pandemic in the world from the beginning and even my great grandma which is 94 years old, survived covid delta like a flu without vaccine. I took one jab of the moderna should have taken 0. Since 2021 maybe 1 person wear a mask for every 100. No ones believes here in covid, we have evidence that hospitals were adding deaths from different diseases to covid deaths because for every covid patient they were getting additional money. When the additional money ended, the huge deaths from covid ended.

Part 2.
What fate worse then the West? When the time was right to open in the summer 2022 it would have been HK 2.0, and about 500k deaths, and the end of the pandemic.

What country do you live in? You sound like you live in a country where the politicians made it clear to the hospitals to declare all COVID deaths as other causes. But additionally, the COVID spread rate is related to both international travel and population density so if you lived in a country where the cities were not crowded and people didn't like to visit, a lower COVID rate would be expected. NYC was the opposite of that and the perfect storm. And your personal anecdote of you and your grandma don't count as evidence. That over 1 million people died in the US, which has a population a quarter of China's is called empirical evidence.
Part 2.

Weeellllll, as I said a million people died in the US and America has an average population density that is a quarter that of China. So if the same virus were to be released in both environments, not only would China suffer 4X the deaths from population, the R0 would increase because of the greater population density, like seen in NYC, so China's deaths would be incalculable and much higher than 4X.
When the time was right to open in the summer 2022 it would have been HK 2.0, and about 500k deaths,
No, perhaps you didn't see Dr. Fauci's data that the US still suffered 2,600 deaths a week. China really has no appetite for >10K deaths a week.
and the end of the pandemic.
Which has obviously not occurred yet seeing the number of deaths actively occurring.

US has 1 million deaths so 1/300 population dead.

India officially has 500k, but analyzed to be 5 million, a little higher ratio than the US. Note that India only got hit with a delta wave, not both alpha and delta.

Applied to China opening fully, maybe it is a bit lower due to better medical care. But 4 million is still a huge number.

Former head coach of Chinese men's soccer team Li Tie under investigation

Li Tie, former head coach of the Chinese men's football team, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of the law, local disciplinary authorities announced on Saturday. Being the first head coach of national football team to be investigated, Li's downfall has made headlines on Chinese social media platforms on Saturday, sparking public concerns over whether his case would trigger a new wave as it has been 13 years since the 2009 crackdown on match-fixing and corruption in Chinese football.

According to the Hubei Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, Li, 45, is under investigation by the national discipline inspection team and the Hubei supervision commission for suspected serious violations of the law.

According to the Beijing Youth Daily, Li's last public appearance before the investigation was on November 2 when he attended an open training class at Shenyang Sport University. On November 8, Li departed from Shenyang and attended a training class of professional coaches of Chinese Football Association in Dalian, Northwest China's Liaoning Province.

During the training session, he was said to have been taken away for investigation, the Beijing Youth Daily reported. Chinese football coaches and former players Yang Chen, Fan Zhiyi and Li Yi, and Chinese football manager and former player Gong Lei also participated in the professional training class, Chinanews.com revealed.

Li Tie was a midfielder of the national team for many years. After Marcello Lippi resigned at the end of 2019, Li became the head coach of China's national team.

In December 2021, Li resigned as head coach of China's national team and was replaced by former team mate Li Xiaopeng, the Chinese Football Association announced.

The former Everton midfielder quit amid growing criticism of his team's performances in their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign as the country looks to reach the finals for the first time since their debut almost 20 years ago.

According to the Soccer News in 2021, after Li was elected coach of the national football team, he changed the cooperation mode with Wuhan team and signed a new contract. His position was similar to that of the general manager, and he was fully in charge of the club.

In 2018 and 2019 when he was the coach of the Wuhan team, Li's annual salary was 12 million yuan ($1.675 million), and in 2020, his annual salary reached 30 million yuan after he "moved behind the scenes," media reports said.

The Chinese Football Association has greatly increased the salary of the national coach to 8 million yuan, and does not allow national coaches to work part-time on club teams. Chinanews.com cited anonymous sources as saying that Li had been under real-name reporting.

As it has been 13 years since the 2009 crackdown on match-fixing and corruption in Chinese football, whether the investigation of Li will trigger a new such crackdown is of great concern to the public.

The public, especially Chinese soccer fans, look forward to a thorough investigation of relevant cases and those responsible, hoping Li's case could be an opportunity for improving the Chinese soccer industry.

Wang Dazhao, a Beijing-based sports commentator, told the Global Times on Saturday that this high-level downfall in Chinese men's football team has exposed that only from the systematic level can we avoid such scandals.

Wang believes improved and more complete and specific regulations, laws and punishment should be introduced and served as a deterrence to prevent more people in the field from engaging in corruption, otherwise there could be "another Li Tie" in the future.

On Thursday, China's top disciplinary agency disclosed several corruption cases involving young officials and

, as a move to strengthen the education of young officials from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and as a reminder to eradicate gambling.

There is still a long way to go to eradicate the existence of unhealthy practices such as football gambling and strengthen the education and oversight of young CPC officials, according to a post on the official website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission.
