Wasn’t there a 0924 in a TV program earlier this year?

That's another excellent image, perhaps the best one we have, of the FLIR hardpoint for the targeting pod (sans targeting pod of course).
It seems like a pretty frequent fixture on J-16s now, I wonder if they use the FLIR function fairly often these days.
40th may have pinched a few 09 batch J16s from 78th, since batch no. 0921 falls within the range 78th has received,
It's quite logical considering 40th is one of the elite J16 brigades alongside with 7th under the ETC, it needed frame numbers to sustain everyday combat patrols above Taiwan Strait.
These elite J16 brigades, 3rd/7th/40th/98th may have already received enough frames to reach maximum strength, so far largest frame number we've seen, No.39 from 3rd, No.37/38 from 7th, No.38 from 40th, No.96 from 98th(51 to 96 probably skipping 54/64/74/84/94).
Just here to point out that this J-16 has 5 different adapter configurations on the 7 pylons seen in picture to ruin the lives of OCD people like me xdTwo close-up shots of J-16.
At least that many if we assume 24 per batch. Earlier this year there was a TV program showing one labled 0921 in training, so that gives us the lowest possible number. Since in that video it's still snowing I'd guess 0921 has been delivered no later than last winter, which could mean that quite a lot of J-16s have been produced between then and now. Personal guess is around 240-250 but take that with a pinch of salt.
