Not sure how reliable but allegedly related to the J-11BG.... can anyone summarise please?

First pic: seems that J-11BG is indeed a thing but no interesting info other than the OP stating that J-11B (not BG) fought against J-10B last year (didn't mention outcome)

Second pic (which I think is the quoted picture in the first one): basically quotations from several Chinese official articles all inferring or stating that "a certain model of fighter (designed and produced by Shenyang)" has undergone upgrades in avionics and as a result has improved combat capabilities

Third pic: OP states that last year during Golden Helmet (AKA 金头盔)19U pervailed against other units flying J-10B (I dont think the above is related to J-11BG but I'll leave it here just for good measure); and that 1U (didn't specify what type of fighter they fly) are at a major disadvantage when fighting against 2U, which switched to J-11BG recently. He also stated that the J-11Bs with white radome (AKA J-11BG) have AESA radar and improved EW capabilities, and even went so far as to state that fighters with AESA radars and PL-15s (I strongly suspect that he's talking about J-11BG and perhaps J-16) have a shot at taking down a J-20, albeit with support from friendly units (other fighters, AWACS, ground radar, etc)

how come its radome black? I thought all J-16s were in grey as its ASEA

Yes it is grey, these aircraft assigned to the 172nd Brigade are from earlier batches (see cn. 0221) and IMO it is not darker than this one:

emm, fair enough, I got the conclusion too fast just by its radome. just did a quick google, find some other J-16 pictures with black noses and "traditional" paint scheme, guess they might be first few batches?

Yes, only from Batch 05 on they got the new light grey ones and most of all it vastly depends on the lighting conditions.
