China will use J-10, J-11(yes, J-11), JH-7, and KJ-200 for a supposed anti-terrorism exercise. Russia is sending Su-25s.

Does anyone else think that this is a bit excessive for an anti-terrorism exercise?

Also, I wonder if they will use J-11Bs this time. Probably will be top news if they use Taihang-equipped J-11Bs.

PLANAF will send Su-30s to their first ever "free-style" air combat exercise with PLAAF.

Do you think that the Su-30s will do well against the J-10s and J-11s?

Not as far fetched as you might think in this day and age.

Syria, Ukrane and Iraq all started off as 'counter terrorism' operations, and if thing get so bad that the SCO starts to seriously consider military intervention in one its members states, odds are it will need to be more than a civilian police mission.

In a way, it is quite amazing how apt the Peace Mission format is when you take into consideration all of these new developments. Notice how the western media, who used to openly mock the 'excessive' nature of the exercises when they first started.

It isn't so much the fighters (since you can justify ground attack) but the use of AWACs like KJ-200. Are they also useful for coordinating ground-attack missions?

I think it is a danger thing for both sides.China has more common interstates with USA than Russia,Why not cooperate .The fact that USA is the top favorite country in China ,most Chinese love USA.Why this aggressive thing happen one by one? we are live in a far distance, territory problem never became a thing between with us.all support global enconormy ,all fight againist with terrorist and so on. and in 80s we are friendly just because 89 issuse.it is happen more than 25 years. Why can't

I absolutely agree, and the only one to benefit from US/China being at odds is Russia, I think folks need to rethink some of these paranoid ideologies that just create distrust/aggression.....

Back from the holydays !!! :p:p

Just working up the missed things: as such no. 1 an interesting news ... since when does the 7. Division (see 10386) operates some J-11BS with TH ???? ... and is this a hint for a conversion to a full J-11B/BS unit with TH or will these TH-powered trainers only supplement the other ones ?

I think more like the latter. I think you will see a lot of J-11BS replacing existing UBK in the flanker regiments.

Agreed, but I think it's a bit strange to use two different kinds of engines - esp. only for a few trainers - within the same unit.
