Cross support looks like cast iron pipe, and the mirror is definitely out of a 1960 Chrysler New Yorker, but it does work, LOL.... looks like shes in a steep left bank, so we really don't know what they are shooting at. Missle looks like it has locked on to something though.

I think the 'missile' is another Flanker. There are two trails of exhaust which suggest two engines. In fact, if the picture is zoomed into, one can see two distinct shapes on the back of something that resembles a Flanker.

you're right sir, there are two contrails, and that is apparently the lead aircraft, and his wingman is covering his six.....

But this is a Flanker + a missile and IMO it looks very much like the new PL-15 albeit without fins + another image with another large AAM now with fins !

Hmmm ... I just did a rough comparison and the PL-12 below is actually even a bit longer than this "new" missile ... so maybe only a PL-12 without the fins.

Maybe a further reduced size PL-15 variant, taking advantage of better propulsion/solid fuel technology available, to address the issue of internal carriage on the J-20.
IIRC one issue why the J-20 only was shown carrying two missile per side was that the overall PL-12/PL-15 body diameter is just too large.

If China could bring down the size of the PL-12 to AIM-120C/D standards, the large and deep internal bay of the J-20 could easily hold six missiles.

Here are some pictures you will not see very often...if ever again. Since it has a flanker in it...I thought folks would like them here.

During Cope Taufan 14, which is an exercise in Malaysia, on June 18, 2014, a formation of U.S. Air Force and Royal Malaysian air force aircraft formed up and flew together.

Not too often you see an F-22 Raptor, an SU-30MKM, a Mig-29N, an F-15C, a F/A-18, and a BAE Hawk flying together now is it?

Feast your eyes:
