Hey guys, look at the 1/72 scale model I just picked up... brand new in my hot hands! Normally $49.99, but I picked it up for $34 at a local Hobby Town store.

The 1/72 scale aircraft I have (shown above) are:

- H-6 which I will build as the new H-6K
- JH-7 which I will build as a JH-7A
- J-10S which I will build as a fully functional combat aircraft
- Z-10 attack helo,
- J-11B
- J-15
- J-20

That should be a pretty nice representation of modern Chinese aircraft.

SO cool! Did you get all these at Hobby Lobby?

Well, Hobby Lobby does not have that great a selection...it is more a crafts and hobby stores with a small area devoted to models.

When shopping at actual stores, I prefer Hobby Town, which is a nation-wide chain with a very good selection of models. iI is more a man-cave type hobby shop (hehehe) with models, trains, RC aircraft, etc. and not focused on crafts and such.

However, I usually get most of my stuff online. It's almost always cheaper...but not always. I got this J-15 at Hobby Town and the J-20. The others were all purchased online at places like Free Time Hobbies, Lucky Model, Hobby Space, MegaHobby, Hobby Linc, etc.

I have numerous aircraft in 1/72 scale, for each major nation...modern aircraft. US Navy and Air Force, the UK, France, China, Russia, France, etc. When an aircraft gets retired, I then sell the model and buy the aircraft that replaces it.

I'm looking forward to building the J-11B and J-15 and then comparing them to the SU-27 and SU-33 I have.

One day there will be a J-16 that I can then compare to the SU-35 I have yet to build.

Jeff said HT so probably not a typo....... Hobby Town is different than Hobby Lobby... the kinds of stuff I think folks here like can be more likely found in a place like Hobby Town (I think) rather than Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby deals with more hmm 'feminine' type hobbies like knitting, crocheting, sewing and bow making, floral designs etc. Hobby Town is more like model making, figurines, model trains etc.

If you want to buy a sewing kit or a flowery picture frame you to go Hobby Lobby. If you want to buy a model of J-20 you're better off at hobby Town.

Google "Hobby Town, Houston, TX," or look it up in the phone book.

Houston has a really nice one over on Highway 6, west of the Medical Center, between I-10 and the Westpark Tollway, right near Westheimer over there...hehehe, now why would I know that? LOL!

Yes...during rehab, and then in my visits for check up since, I made sure I knew exactly where it was, and have been in there on several occasions.

And, as AFB indicated, I am a native Texan. My Mom was born in Houston and I still have one surviving Aunt and her kids, my cousins, all over Houston, and in Central Texas and North central Texas. I was raised on a small ranch about 60 miles Northwest of the DFW area.

And, yes, I do have a Stetson...in fact several. But my large bore handgun is a S&W .44 magnum...among others, LOL!

Nah, it's closer to downtown than to Katy. I will pay a visit and get myself a model or two. I made a Su-27 model when I was in college, but never got the patience to finish the paint. I still have it, but it's still "naked". This time, I will finish it...
