Singapore does not have a US military base.

Strictly speaking, you're correct. According to US agreement with Singapore, LCS are rotationally deployed to Changi Naval Base. Singapore also allows US military to use Singapore's air and naval bases. There are some fine distinctions between access and military base. I didn't want to go into these finer details because my larger points stand regardless.

The biggest "fine distinction" will be that the agreement does not allow for the US to mount combat ops out of SG bases. Nor torture centres ;)

A superb interview with one of the very few Australian strategists worth listening to, Professor Hugh White. He's the only Australian whose views on this matter I'm interested in hearing. I'm linking the most incisive part of the interview, but the whole thing is well worth watching (don't "tl;dw" this one). The interviewer is also excellent; sharp and engaging.

I've been following the Brexit shortages in the UK and I can't help but wonder how it'll affect UK's contribution to AUKUS and the other stuff. The shortages will eventually be resolved but the underlying issues that lead to it won't, meaning UK's economy is going to be tanking for a while. Surely this'll degrade their military capabilities?

The schadenfreude seeing them panic as they panic-buy everything is fun to see too, especially as they sail their ships in China's face. The sailors are enjoying Asia's hospitality as their families starve and freeze back home.
