How is China's shale gas exploration going along? China has more shale gas than the US, but with existing technology, the geology is too complicated to be economical.

The problem of geology is that the shale areas are in areas that are dry, and you need to pump an exorbitant amount of water to push the oil out. Water that can be used for agriculture instead such as turning deserts into green land. Precious water from China's rivers and water tables, not to mention the Mekong that supplies water to neighboring South East Asian countries.

Not to mention that fracking increases the amount of earthquakes, and that's not a good idea in areas like the Sichuan province which is also one of those areas that have shale oil but has a past history of catastrophic earthquakes.

IMO, pursuit of shale oil in China is debatable for ecological reasons, and its even debatable in the US for ecological reasons, given the depletion of water tables in the US --- water tables that are vastly important for US agriculture--- and the increased occurrence of small earthquakes. IMO, US shale oil is another sign of the US selling its future away for shortsightedness.

China should pursue alternative energy sources instead, like solar, wind, hydro and not the least, nuclear. Give rise to the replacement of internal combustion engine cars to electric.

"Its in Atlanta. The reason why it fell is cus it was probably built by majority African American workforce. Wouldn't be the case if it was built in Idaho or Iowa or WV."

Update:
I'm glad I didn't miss! Look into the comment section of that video. Some nut is blaming a feminist engineer.

Wow! Ivana Trump looks like Donald Trump as a transvestite.
The reality is that 4 more years of Trump is actually better for China compared to four more years of Biden. While some may dispute this, the fact remains that Trumpian administration is focused on wielding Hard power while Biden Admin would prioritize soft power and Coalition approach.

The later could complicate things for China a lot. The former, while it would affect China a lot, could lend China more voice in Global Stage.

The George Floyd protests and Armed militias are just examples. The reality is that the sickness within the country could get worse by a set of trigger events and chain reactions that could send the country down the rabbit hole of instability and malaise. By 2050, the demographic shift would become more concrete and bring with it many more sociopolitical eruptions.

While many American supporters point to China's demographic issue (an issue of population numbers), the reality is that American racial demographics is a worse threat. One is just economical (and could be managed to some extend), the other is multidimensional.

This decade (2020 to 2030) is going to be one of turbulent changes. Nothing is off the table. A decade that'll be remembered that for sure.

I don't think it matters. Even with Trump in office traditional US allies will still follow the US. Minorities in the US will still rather have the US in control of the world. They'll get less from a world that is not controlled by the US. Same thing US allies are thinking even with Trump as President.

I don’t think the USA has much hope after the election given the mounting problems right now. None of the problems are being handled by the adults in the room so no matter who is elected will still have a disaster of a country to deal with, which has no real solution other then to print money like life depends on it.
