We know, the PLAAF is already flying the H-6KG, which also carries these huge jammer pods … so are these really ex-PLAN NA H-6Js handed over to the PLAAF?

That's the question ... I know there have been reports, the PLAN NA is going "all carrier capable", but what about the EW/AEW and ASW assets? Can*t think they will be integrated into the PLAAF.

Good, the remaining H-6H/M regiments should be replaced with H-6K as soon as possible. Just standardizing maintenance and reducing fleet type would be very beneficial here. Let along the capability jump
I wonder is it possible to upgrade older H-6 variant close to H-6K level. Put new radar and sensors on it. Replace avionics with today's compartment. It shouldn't be to hard. The only problem is if older variants can be upgrade with fly by wire.

the key is those two d30 engines. the air inlet was redesigned to cope with them.

speaking of which, yankeesama implied there will be an engine upgrade for K/J/N

Just giving the younger to North Korea could be an interesting move if they have a lot of hours left in them.

I totally agree with @caohailiang … it simply makes no sense to refurbish them without the engines
