More justly, BYD should be called the Samsung of EVs. Why Samsung? Samsung has an integrated parts chain of its own --- SOC, memory, camera sensor, 4G/5G modem, display screen, battery --- that is can create a smartphone entirely with Samsung labeled parts. I think that is what BYD can do with its own parts chain.
Despite its size and brand, Toyota doesn't have an integrated parts chain, as it still sources parts from different suppliers.
Probably from some Chinese company, most likely culprit being ZC Rubber. ZC is like the BBK of tires, an umbrella organization for a number of Chinese tire brands.

The Economist just can't help themselves. Even in a supposedly positive article about a Chinese company, they have to put the menacing dragon caricatures there to vilify China.
China will electrify all vehicles in the public sector eventually. The first stage will be 2023-2025.
Volvo will launch a lot of EVs in the next couple of years, including an electric MPV based on Geely's Zeekr 009. Volvo is planning to be an all NEV automaker by 2030.
I like it, German press are doing some positive reporting on BYD Atto 3 and blade battery. Showing the nail test.

And this is great for BYD. All the commercial vehicles in China are going to become electrified by 2025. Given BYD's full lineup, they should be able to compete everywhere.

Summary from carfan talking to 5 legacy JVs on people buying NEVs from them. VW at least tries and same with Benz. It seems like the other ones, especially Nissan, are not trying much.
