Antony Blinken to meet Xi Jinping in first visit to China by a Biden cabinet secretary

seems like fake news imo.
I was ready to say the same thing but then I saw who reported the news. If you follow FT long enough then you know what organisation this "journalist" represents

They didn't even bother to use the official name "South China Sea" in the news article. Instead, they picked the term "West Philippine Sea" just to "buy" more into the hearts of Manila and trigger Beijing even further.

From now on, the PLA war planners should fully include the Philippines into the war equation of the US-led coalition against China. Manila can no longer be a non-factor in any perceived conflict over Taiwan in the future - in fact, this should have been clear the moment Marcos becomes the President of the Philippines.

Marcos is no Duterte. Besides, it's not like Washington DC would ever allow them to not become a factor either way.

@ansy1968 Any comment?
It's still too early to say if the Philippines have chosen to stand against China. Waving between China and the US is typical for Southeast Asian countries. They always try to maximize the benefits for themselves. So it's not surprising to see that sometimes they cross the line. The more important thing is, how much they have gone beyond the line and whether they turn back to balance quickly.
The Scarborough Shoal/Huangyan Island reclamation project had everything prepared in 2014. The only reason why it was not carried out, is that China doesn't want to ruin its relationship with the Philippines completely for the next decades. If the situation in the future goes to a very bad end, we will see this construction.

I don't understand why China doesn't start modernising North Korean military. The US is literally setting the stage for an eventual inevitable confrontation, so why hold back? They are sanctioning and banning Chinese companies anyway. Why tf should China not do anything in her defense? I say arm NK with modern naval ships, aircrafts, drones, missiles and other fun stuff. Need to start playing this like a zero sum game soon coz frankly despite my admiration and respect for the CPC & President Xi, I don't believe in the stupid ideology of "Shared future for humanity". China has worked very hard to be where she is, her wealth, technology and prosperity first and foremost belong to the Chinese people themselves, not less deserving third world shitholes like Phillipines, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Ungrateful African & Latin American countries etc. Neither is it on sale to be robbed again by the Europeans/Anglos or the poodle Japanese. Rejuvenation and shared future for the Chinese nation is more like it. Divert the outward investments going into these third world countries to the PLA & the Chinese MIC.

Didn't China voted for UN sanctions on North Korea? The problem with NK is that it is there for the survival of the Kim clan. It needs to create an economy that can sustain itself and a "modern" army.

As overbom pointed out, one world is united under the American Empire, while the other side is being divided and conquer (again).

Man, that's just sad to see tbh.

Has there been any confrontations like this between the Uyghur Chinese separatist movement and the PRC Chinese patriots in Australia since there's a significant support for the terrorist movement in that neck of the wood

No, cause the Uyghur Chinese separatist movement is fake, fully proped up by imperialists (UK, Soviet Union, US). The Khalistan movement is organic, the sikhs predate the notion of India by centuries.

Lol look at the history of this new Wapo "reporter"

Was an intern in 2019 and writing crappy local news up til middle of 2022. All of a sudden she's a Pulitzer recipient and chief of southeast asia bureau.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with how she's a turncoat with a "Chinese" face who willingly works as a pawn for the US empire trying to stir shit in asia.

Also, guess where she was born and raised. Truly the anglo base of Asia known for producing white/US worshippers.
To be fair, I entirely agree.
I said it before but that really is the mood here in this country at the moment.
It is a bit disgusting to be honest.

However there are some reasons things turned out this way.
One reason is that the education system is fully imported from overseas, attitudes included.
You can guess what will happen if a person studies a liberal arts education imported from the west.
If you want things to be different, there is no point making a snarky forum post. The entire liberal arts university syllabus has to be challenged. Every year, thousands of reporters like her are created. She is just one of many.

Secondly, the country stresses racial equality with the other racial groups.
As far as the Malay race is concerned, my country is a small dot smack between Indonesia and Malaysia.
Indonesia is a growing power in its own right. Not being overwhelmed by your giant neighbors can already be considered a small miracle.
Indians also control large segments of Singapore society.
Therefore the focus on the west was probably considered to be the "neutral" position because there was a time long ago when the world seemed to be moving towards a cosmopolitan inclusive environment.
It made sense during the developing years 10-15 years ago when the world seemed to be moving in a globalist direction.

But its probably still a bit better than HongKong because at least we didn't trash our city into pieces trying to worship the west.

Interesing action made by the city government of Hong Kong to attract tourists, investors etc. back into the city. I just hope that they will vet the people that'll take this chance since I don't want those roaches which left the city during its most turbulent and challenging time to come back, especially those who have chosen to absconde to their beloved UK
