They didn't even bother to use the official name "South China Sea" in the news article. Instead, they picked the term "West Philippine Sea" just to "buy" more into the hearts of Manila and trigger Beijing even further.

From now on, the PLA war planners should fully include the Philippines into the war equation of the US-led coalition against China. Manila can no longer be a non-factor in any perceived conflict over Taiwan in the future - in fact, this should have been clear the moment Marcos becomes the President of the Philippines.

Marcos is no Duterte. Besides, it's not like Washington DC would ever allow them to not become a factor either way.

@ansy1968 Any comment?

Some people may see this as a betrayal of China by Philippines. I disagree, the way I see it, Philippines was always something of a between imperial-vassal territory of the American Empire. Expecting them to "betray" you was as easy to predict as expecting a scorpion to sting you

Also something ironic to note, people here (rightly) keep harping about India and Indians shouting the lungs off for killing China, but I haven't seen them opening any US bases next to China so far. Meanwhile the sweet talking Marcos just dropped this bomb lol

I think it was a betrayal, he got just a state visit to China and was given the honour of being the first foreign visit of the year. China has to show the world backstabbing Xi has a price to pay. Looking at China's recent warnings (livestream of island making machine), and China's official responses it seems like Scarborough Shoal will get some new additions very soon.

Some of our members on this forum are overly optimistic about China-Philippines relations, I hope they stay far away from US bases for the next few years.

Not optimistic but pragmatic and rationale on the part of the Philippines and it's corrupt politicians and political system. I was and am clinging to some sliver of hope that Philippine leadership can be reasoned with and see the gloom, devastating outlook that awaits them if it were to join the anti-China club most especially with respect to the non negotiable sovereign issue of China vis-a-vis Taiwan.

But, perhaps my hope has always been a fool's hope since realistically speaking the only way to make those American boot licking and western indoctrinated people and leaders to understand is through HARD POWER.

There's a persistent belief that the Philippines will be protected and defended by America's superior military and fighting prowess, and the tendency to dismiss, downplay even Chinese PLA fighting force and fighting ability. It's due to information depravity, historical whitewashing, deletion of Chinese fighting prowess from the Chinese modern Civil War, the Korean War, the 1962 Indo-China, war, the Soviet-China War of 1969, Sino-Vietnam War of 1979. There's hardly anything of objective value informing the civilian and military leaders alike in the Philippines of those important events happened in China. The events and lessons are almost all exclusively learned from and through the lens of the American perspective, while the Chinese Views are whittled down to mere ideological prism of evil commie and benevolent American political system.

Decades of total indoctrination in the Philippines by its colonial master will always be a difficult tract for China to remove let alone minimize since the country has until only recently been seen as an economic power. I don't know what the future holds between the Philippines and China, but I know it won't be pretty for the Philippines. Death and Destruction awaits them if it is foolish enough to be used as one of the cannon fodder for American hegemony.

I don't blame them, they are just confused because the whole world has been indoctrinated for decades by western propaganda into believing that all countries are independent and equal.

What I am saying here is very simple. There are 2 blocks in the world. The American Empire and the non-American Empire countries(which is split into multiple blocks by itself)

The American Empire consists of imperial territory US/Canada/UK/Australia/Japan and the vassal territory EU. Philippines/SKorea are somewhere between imperial and vassal territory.

After people have understood the concept of imperial and vassal territories all belonging to one big empire, then everything suddenly starts making sense. Instead of asking why would Philippines side with the US, you should better start asking why would the vassal of the American empire agree to the imperial demands of the American Empire.. Ridiculous question, isn't it?

Adopting the American Empire imperial/vassal framework is imo the best suited method to understand geopolitics in the modern era

Antony Blinken to meet Xi Jinping in first visit to China by a Biden cabinet secretary

Antony Blinken is expected to meet Xi Jinping in Beijing, making him the first US secretary of state to meet the Chinese leader in nearly six years and the first of President Joe Biden’s cabinet secretaries to visit China.
seems like fake news imo.

I don't understand why China doesn't start modernising North Korean military. The US is literally setting the stage for an eventual inevitable confrontation, so why hold back? They are sanctioning and banning Chinese companies anyway. Why tf should China not do anything in her defense? I say arm NK with modern naval ships, aircrafts, drones, missiles and other fun stuff. Need to start playing this like a zero sum game soon coz frankly despite my admiration and respect for the CPC & President Xi, I don't believe in the stupid ideology of "Shared future for humanity". China has worked very hard to be where she is, her wealth, technology and prosperity first and foremost belong to the Chinese people themselves, not less deserving third world shitholes like Phillipines, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Ungrateful African & Latin American countries etc. Neither is it on sale to be robbed again by the Europeans/Anglos or the poodle Japanese. Rejuvenation and shared future for the Chinese nation is more like it. Divert the outward investments going into these third world countries to the PLA & the Chinese MIC.
