I dont know why Zelensky is so funny.

I used Yandex, so dont shoot me if i mistranslated:

"If you don't want to give tanks, no offense – you are an independent state, don't give. But don't try to say: America first, then Germany, then Poland. If you don't want to give tanks. We will win this war without your tanks, but I wanted you to know that we are fighting for our common interests"

Is Ukraine still short of tanks?!

Here in this thread was posted a very long list of captured tanks in Kharkov and we were persuaded that Ukraine has more tanks than before the war?!?

Let me clarify, they speculate that Putin waited until the voices and calls for mobilization had became so loud that it can drown out anti-mobilization voices with a large enough confident interval that then they initiated a partial mobilization. Otherwise it could have been that the anti mobilization protests or videos of people not wanting mobilization would have been even more pronounced And further used by western media to show alleged Russian discontent.
It's less about public consent and more about maximizing impact.

If Russia sent a ton of conscripts on day 1, sure, they might have won instantly and then occupied Ukraine completely. But if they fail or get bogged down, then there is no way to replenish the army, and no way out aside from nukes.

By softening up AFU forces for more than 6 months, Russia has made the situation far easier for conscripts to manage.

Had Russia sent in conscripts on day 1, they would be sending them into an offensive maneuver war against fully equipped late-USSR standard formations tasked with defending. The result might have been similar to the first attack on Kiev. Or sheer numbers could give the Russians a decisive edge, but that is a gamble.

Now instead, conscripts are going into mainly garrison/artillery duty against a much weaker AFU.

Modern Russian missiles and rockets use microchips imported from the West. It is not a chronic problem as they allegedly claim, there are some Russian companies that build microchips, but at a lower quality cost, which will directly impact the performance of Russian systems, but apparently they have established a reserve of imported components in case of an embargo. as is the current case.

Update:
The Donetsk government claims its forces have captured the Zhovanka settlement in Donetsk oblast south of Bakhmut/Artemivsk.

18 MB RAM and Ethernet controllers aren't cutting edge stuff. I can buy those in big bins for education or hobby projects lol.

If they are off the shelf chips then they are not hardened against stuff like radiation or ew interference.
Based on my understanding you can harden them against EW. Just put it in a sealed metal box with no holes except wire feedthroughs. As long as no RF receiver has direct connection with the unhardened parts there's no possibility of components being damaged. You can do that with either non-RF guidance like IR, TV contrast seeker, etc. Or use optocouplers to send data across the gap.

The chips in the picture have been conformally coated...although not very well. Radiation resistant electronics are a thing, but only really important in long space use. You can just design whatever your protection you need into the circuit or enclosure.

yup
The difference between mil spec chips and consumer grade chips according to the data sheets I have seen over the years is a much higher temperature range (both lower and upper temps) and a higher reliability

The soviet union managed to get components and computers during the cold war. That was before the days of alibaba and the like.

If you can buy it online from a store then you can get it to Russian. If the store is within the anti Russian alliance it might have to pass through a 3rd country

I don't think it had much to do with public opinion. The Ukrainians have managed to train and equip enough soldiers that current Russian positions are untenable.

China's support for Russia may well be more than meets eye. Here we have alleged pictures of Y-20 over Moscow.

Furthermore,

China, India Stand by Russia Despite Its Setbacks in Ukraine War

Beijing is seeking to deepen economic ties with Moscow, while New Delhi has increased its purchases of Russian crude and relies on the country for military supplies

Busy day for Russian dish washer :

More and more videos are appearing of the Iranian Shahed 136 attack drone :

Short clip from Zaporozhye region. Looks like Russian armour with high explosive rounds or could be kornet, engaging the enemy.
Hope anyone thinking of messing with China yet thinks Russia is using washing machine chips for their weapons, better understand this: China makes same amount of washing machines as the next 4 countries combined.
