Bro you have some pretty extreme ideas, why would China irradiate the waters she's in possession of just to demonstrate symbolic resolve against changing the status quo? We're already complaining about the Japanese dumping their Fukushima waters that'll contaminate the fisheries, setting off a nuke would just be waste of a strategic weapon, and hypocritical on the political and diplomatic stage towards the non-western world that China can build normal relationships with.

A very plausible scenario. Pelosi's plane enters internationally recognised Chinese airspace, refuses to follow orders and is shot down.

Once the plane has been shot down China can always do nothing else militarily and pursue America legally for an illegal intrusion of their borders. Given Pelosi's actions would violate American law (Taiwan Relations Act, Logan Act) not to mention international law, we could see America getting Russia style treatment internationally.

If he isn't able to escalate into a full scale war and is forced too back down, it would be an embarrassment for Biden and would likely lead to an impeachment.

One nuclear weapon wouldn't irradiate anything; you know that these things were tested pretty regularly before, right? People haven't grown extra toes yet, so I think it'll be fine. Their whining and crying about it is exactly the point - who'll remember Pelosi's visit after such a flagrant violation of the CTBT?

If one demo bomb is a waste worth worrying over China's strategic arsenal about, then China has far bigger problems than some US clown taking her circus to Taiwan.

Even if the situation gets hot, I don't think the US is prepared for a major conflict with China. The US is faced with inflation and recession at home. A major war against your major supplier is a good way to ruin your weak economy.

90% of the world aren't sanctioning Russia either. I meant international bodies like the IOC, FIFA, etc (not that Americans are any good at international sports). It would be hypocritical for them to suspend Russia but not America for doing the exact same thing.

America can claim what they want but they still have to follow international law. I have no idea how they are going to justify sending an a military jet into a soverign country's airspace without explicit authorisation. The Taiwanese regime has zero recognition at the UN.
