⚡️Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine ( June 30, 2022)

Part 1 (read Part 2)

◽️On June 30, as a goodwill gesture, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation finished fulfilling the assigned tasks in Snake Island and withdrew the garrison that had been operating there.

◽️The Russian Federation has demonstrated to the international society the absence of any obstacles for the efforts of UN to establish a humanitarian corridor for transporting agricultural products from Ukraine.

◽️This solution will prevent Kiev from speculating on an impending grocery crisis citing the inability to export grain due to total control of the northwestern part of the Black Sea by Russia. Now it is up to the Ukrainian side that is still not clearing the Black Sea coastline, including the harbour waters.

◽️The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.

◽️The enemy suffers considerable losses.

◽️On June 28, high-precision long-range sea-based weapons destroyed the command post of Khortitsa operational-strategic group near Dnepropetrovsk.

◽️Over the past 24 hours, high-precision attacks launched by Russian Aerospace Forces at the command post of 123rd Territorial Defence Brigade, the location of foreign mercenaries in Nikolayev, as well as the munitions depot of 79th Air Assault Brigade in Shevchenko (Nikolayev region) have resulted in the elimination of over 20 Ukrainian servicemen and over 80 foreign militants, 6 armoured and motor vehicles, over 1,000 artillery projectiles, 300 mortar projectiles and 100 MANPAD rounds.

◽️2 provisional bases of 113th Territorial Defence Brigade with up to 140 accomodated servicemen have been destroyed in Kharkov.

◽️Neutralisation of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near Berestovoye and Avdeyevka (Donetsk People's Republic) has resulted in over 50% of mortal losses in the units of 14th Mechanised and 56th Mechanised Infantry brigades. These units have been withdrawn to the rear area for replenishing their combat capacities.

◽️Due to high losses and inadequate supply of 34th Battalion from 57th Mechanised Infantry Brigade, 13 servicemen, including officers, have abandoned their positions.

Russian deployed their troop on Snake island is stupid to begin with...

It's very small island with plain surface that barely able to hide anything on it. Not much cover from air raid, missile or artillery. The location is too close to Ukraine control territory and too far away from Russian control area. It's a waste of life and resource to put ground forces there to control it. Don't even know why Russian bother with it all this time, it's not like they are use it for port blockade. From what I saw, they just put their troops there for observation.

Russian better to just sit back and prevent any attempt to fortify the island with their long rang weapons. Anything of value that Ukraine put there can be taken out.

Yes, this land has it own strategic value for Russian but not at this moment. Not when they concentrate their force at Donbass.

Would Russia just give up Snake Island like that to the Ukrainians to promote and boost their propaganda?
Or would Russia still make Snake Island as some sort of killing fields for Ukrainian forces whom will attempting to "reclaim" said island?

The Russians will likely turn it into a killing field for the Ukrainians. Also it’s a bit a humiliation for Kiev that despite all the effort to take the island failing it was the Russians who gave it to them because they want to. I never knew the point of taking the island in the first place. Odessa was never gonna be taken by an amphibious assault. It will come by land. Russia would rather use the assets they have now on the next stage of the Donbass front.
The Ukrainians are going for the Zaluzhny plan. Two months too late though. Which is a retreat from Lysychansk to Seversk. And create a defense line from Seversk to Bakhmut. It shortens the frontline for the Ukrainians. However it comes with cons. Russia can increase forces and firepower in a small area. Taking Seversk makes more sense for the Russians. Because past that is no major cities or towns nor fortifications. It’s flatland all the way to Slaviansk. The only think is there is reinforcements from Kramatorsk (about 5-8k fighters) heading or already in Seversk. So I expect bloody fighting for the rest of this month into July. But the Russians will win. They’ll grind down the Ukrainians with never ending artillery and aerial bombardment.

Russian retreat off the Snake island made things more interesting. Since West accuse Russia blocking Ukraine grain shipment, and most of the shipment should come out of port of Odessa. Now Russian no longer held Snake island, no one is gonna accuse Russia blocking the port anymore.

On the other hand, in order to get ships in and out of the Odessa port, the sea mines has to be removed. A big reason no de-mining operation has been carried out, even though there are enough talk about Turkey gonna help is mines also prevent Russians to launch a sea-born assault on Odessa, so you can see where this is going....

Either Ukraine remove the mines they laid to get the sea line open for ships to get in and out, or they just keep talking about it without actually doing anything since the mines keep Russians from launch a beach assault.

These news gave me a feeling: although Russia has eliminated a large number of Ukrainian troops, it has always been unable to form a siege, and a considerable number of Ukrainian troops fled before the siege was completed.

I thought Russia's air power could destroy the fleeing Ukrainian troops, but the result showed that VKS did not perform well.

Odessa is close enough from Sevastopol to monitor and suppress. Forpost drones routinely fly over Odessa to keep an eye on the Odessa oil refinery and make sure it's not working. If it is working again, boom, another Iskander barrage from Sevastopol blasts the Odessa oil refinery, putting it out of service for another year at least.

While yes, I think Russians would prefer to inflict casualty when possible, someone pointed out to me that letting troops escape on foot in small groups isn't a total loss. You still get all the heavy equipment, plus the troops who do manage to run are that much more likely to run next time they come under pressure, and when they do that could be infectious to others. Successful retreat can be habit forming very quickly.
