I think it's best to assume that Putin has entered the "Late War Hitler Stage", where he currently lives on his own delusion and not bothering reading the real situation that has been going on
Assuming things is always the best course of action. You should implement this into your real life

I'll tell you one thing that's not an assumption but a fact, Putin is a coward and Russia needs a real hard line nationalist leader right now. Someone who won't be scared shitless of theoretical reprecusions of striking those who are taking part in the slaughter of Russian men and women.

Who said Putin needs to use his nukes on NATO?

Finland and Sweden just offered themselves up as choice targets. If Putin nuked a remote Finish military base, would NATO be prepared to commit mass suicide to go nuclear against Russia over it?
Maybe, maybe not. But Is Putin ready to test this scenario and see what happen? Probably No. Then NATO assured destruction doctrine working.

Escalation in this instance, means I believe, that NATO personnel in Ukraine are now going to be actively targeted.
I say this following Putin's comments about Command and Control. I know somebody was asking, why were these not targeted right at the start. Well, as we now have confirmation from the French Journalist that the Pentagon is running the show, then I think you have your answer.
NATO officers are actively running the Ukrainian military and will be in numbers at National and Divisional Headquarters. Hitting them will be quite an escalation, but one which is probably now justified, on several measures.

Plus of course any NATO personnel delivering Military Equipment into Ukraine are going to be hit straight away as well. I think this answers another question people were asking about how the Slovakian S-300 was able to get all the way to Dneipro before being hit.
Not anymore I suspect.

That’s just makes no sense.

Is NATO treaty bound to defend Finland? No. So why would it start a nuclear war, knowing full well that would end themselves, over a country they have zero obligations towards? There is no deterrence to speak of since Finland isn’t a member of NATO yet.

It's sad that a #2 military superpower would need to deploy nukes against smaller countries.

Russia shouldn't even be in the same conversation as US and China. US and China are a totally different league compared to Russia.

How is NATO personnel in Ukraine not legitimate target before? Especially since NATO themselves denied having personnel in Ukraine? Nobody, not even NATO can complain Russia hitting those targets

Ah yes, Russia is fighting Ukraine only. Thanks! Also, China is certainly nowhere close to being in the same league as the USA and neither is Russia.

Russia uses nukes to compensate for what it sees as inferior conventional capabilities. Ukraine flop and NATO expansion will likely reinforce that.
