Buk? The Russian MOD is claiming to destroy low single digits of Ukrainian Buks per day. Let's say 3 per day on average. Quick Google gives Ukraine 72 Buks per Wikipedia. At that rate that will take Russia 24 days from the start of the campaign just to fully suppress the Buks. Not to mention the remaining S-300s which apparently haven't been fully destroyed going into day 11.
The altitude didn't seem particularly high. I think it could have been an SA-8 Osa as well. The missile rocket motor was ignited until impact. According to Wikipedia (I know), the 9K33M3 missile has a 2s boost and 15s sustain burn time.

The aircraft was identified today as Su-34. That's the 4th aircraft of that type the Russians have lost thus far.

This is from Chernihiv area:

Couple questions.

1. Why do these trucks look strange to me? Yes, they are fuel trucks, but the cabs are not a normal military color. Just from combustion? Or something else?

2. Does anyone see anything that absolutely IDs these are Russian? Don't get me wrong: they probably are. However, my very distracted brain isn't computing something here.

There actually is a golden opportunity here for canny and skilled Chinese diplomacy to insert China semi-permanently into Europe as a major player in internal Eastern European diplomatic affairs at the other end of belt and road.
Before asking China, Ukraine asked Israel to mediate a ceasefire, so is Israel suddenly a "major player in European affairs"? To me, Ukraine is asking every semi-competent dog and cat in the park if they want to mediate, not because it confers any prestige, but they are desperate for a resolution to the issue. So this mediator position has zero benefits, but all the drawbacks in case it fails (again).

However, at the risk of offending much of the contingent here, I have to say Chinese diplomacy has been singularly inept at comprehending and adapting to the internal views, perceptions and political realities of other states, so China has little chance of being able to successful capitalize on this opportunity.
I agree China should increase diplomatic engagement in Middle East since most of oil comes from this region. But Eastern Europe is backwaters of backwaters. China can mediate Ukraine-Russia within the auspices of UNSC and UN charter, that's good enough. No need for a "Treaty of Beijing" or "Treaty of Jerusalem" which features territorial concessions which gets blamed on China for being "pro-Russia" aggression.

Also, "mediation" presumes both sides are rational actors. In Putin's infamous speech before the war, 50% of the speech was anti-NATO expansionism (100% rational logic), and other 50% of speech was garbage "Muh Blood Brother" sphere of influence/glory days, which is emotional/subjective interpretation of history. With both sides not completely rationale, it's best that China just mediates within the framework of UNSC and UN Charter. It's not worth it since one side is going to sign an Unequal Treaty, and best China doesn't be involved in that shit.

because you want effective and subtle levers where ever you can insert them. but they are particularly valuable near major poles of economic and political power.

And hate to say it, the fact that chinese diplomacy is doing poorly inside the “western imperial core” is an indictment of sbject failure, for that is the place where sustained diplomatic success counts the most and takes the most diplomatic subtlety and skill, everywhere else the diplomacy is susceptible to crude approaches and is in itself more or less optional, only to be focused because forced to by inability to make inroad where success counts much more.
Being realistic, there was no way China could have ever made its way into the US and it's allies, so not a failure, was never possible in the first place.

Also you wayyy overvalue 'diplomatic success' with them lol, and while yes US and it's allies are important in the world stage due to economics and military but they are that, important but nowadays not all important (their share in % dropping over these last years and decades).
And again, China is in fact doing pretty good diplomatically outside of US and it's allies (which it never had any hope of getting goodwil lol)

Has anyone read this? Allegedly a report leaked via a Russian FSB secret service agent who calls the Ukraine war a "total failure"

Yes and i consulted already to some Russian writers.
He said not need to worry about that, although the nuclear part is concerning to me.

-----------
Anyway Odessa landing seems near.. Someone spotted this

Those two trucks without sheds are carryng what appears to be ODAB-500PM Thermobaric/fuel air bombs. Guess that might be used to clear building or minefields in Odessa beaches.

MOSCOW, March 6 - RIA Novosti. Moscow received documents from employees of Ukrainian biological laboratories confirming that components of biological weapons were being developed in Ukraine, in close proximity to Russian territory. This was stated to journalists by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov. "In the course of a special military operation, the facts of an emergency cleansing by the Kiev regime of traces of a military biological program being implemented in Ukraine, funded by the US Department of Defense, were uncovered"

As you may have guessed it already, this thing is being well documented, witnesses and their depositions secured and this will be presented very soon, together with acts of barbarism and war crimes by Kiev regime and its Western "advisers". That explains in part a hysteria in the West. This time, however, this is not going to be this:

It is going to be a real deal and many people better start thinking very hard what are they going to say in response, especially when some of them may well end up in the war crimes tribunal in Donetsk (or Moscow). And that event will be surely widely publicized.

just some excerpts...

...that liquidation procedure is aimed at the irrevocable destruction of the collections. Apparently, everything necessary for continuation of the implementation of the military biological program has already been taken out of Ukraine. In total more than 320 containers. The nomenclature and excessive number of bio-pathogens indicate that the work was carried out within the framework of military biological programs.

The curators from the Pentagon understand that if these collections get to Russian experts a fact of violation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons by Ukraine and the USA will most likely be confirmed. Namely: carrying out work to enhance the pathogenic properties of microorganisms with usage of synthetic biology methods.
Only this can explain a haste with which the liquidation was carried out.

This is only a small part of documents. We continue the work and will inform you.

Anyone still remembers the news / story about some research arm funded by the United States collected genetic samples of thousands of Chinese people in the Central Plain region (either Hunan / Henan / Hubei) then sent the samples illegally to USA? IIRC it's related to Harvard Medical School. What a similar practice with what they did in Ukraine! Collecting genetic specimens of the specific ethnicities! Should be alarming learning and knowing their practices!
