Is that actually The Sampan Viking on YouTube? I’ve admired your contributions, here, for a long time!
Thanks James - yes I started a channel about six months ago. One of the reasons was to be able to discuss certain topics in greater depth that may otherwise have sailed too close the wind for the forum rules or encouraged more junior members to cross the line and get themselves in trouble.
Very happy to learn that you appreciate the content.

My thoughts on the Kazakhstan riots
Good analysis!

Among the many factors, I believe the GEOGRAPHICAL one, the LOCATION of Kazakhstan in Central Asia, mainly between two major powers: Russia and China, is the main determinant why a Ukraine Scenario will not succeed there! Unlike Ukraine, no NATO element shares the land border with Kazakhstan. Russia is able to safeguard the Caspian Sea if necessary.

Also the Ukraine case taught Russia a very hard lesson, that if Russia is sitting idly when the stage in ex-USSR is rolling, later it will need to deal with the consequence at heavy price... thus never again let another Maidan Plot prevail in Russian sphere of influence, this time at its southern flank.

And in today's world, I don't think playing nice, be tame is any good move... as we're witnessing major powers like Russia and China are becoming more assertive in defending their backyards to not fall into hostile powers than in the past. Of course there are many other subtle elements at play... but I am quite sure this riot will fail and it will be over soon. They cannot even succeed in much weaker Venezuela with unfortunate geographical location.

The US is making it guaranteed that China will have substantial capital damage in a Taiwan contingency while making solving cross-strait questions politically impossible.
No worries; when the US makes guarantees, it ends up like the Afghanistan withdrawal. It may not be any good at making guarantees but the US is fantastic at making "for show" alliances and announcements with fancy names that do nothing. China's not fancy like that:confused:. China just keeps growing its tech and economy to the top of the world. No fancy names... unless one considers the "Xth 5 Year Plan" as a fancy name... just boring names, oftentimes no names, and boring old world-beating growth.

Your Supapowa US' industrial CapEx is falling off the cliff, now reaching 2011 levels lol.

The US should focus more on its internal affairs and stop wasting its time on useless matters

Woman was 8 month pregnant, went to her local hospital in Xi’an due to abdominal pain. Was refused treatment because of Covid lockdown. She waited 4 hours, almost bled out before hospital decided to finally see her. Ended up loosing her child after 8 months of pregnancy.

There are also reports of people bartering for food in Xi’an due to the extreme lockdown. Or people with preexisting heart conditions dying of heart failure because they were refused to be seen by the hospital.

America has no coherent Covid strategy. China on the other hand is pushing its lock down to the extreme. Local governments following Party directives to the T; their jobs and promotions are on the line.
What happened in Xian is a tragedy, a result of mishandling and incompetence. Government officials and hospital staffs were NOT following Party directives to the T.
However there was accountability to this unfortunate even. Top government officials were sacked for their incompetent management in controlling the spread of the virus.
Hospital staffs were sacked and punished for their actions related to the pregnant woman.
Importantly the Chinese government take responsibility and own up for their actions even for one death.
As for foods scarcity, every country has foods supply chain problems and every health care system under stress. Just pointing at China's problems is cherry picking.
