It's all good and no I don't think you were being too hard with your comments on what I posted. What you said was a good reminder for me not to get caught up with posts that's all designed to incite a reaction nothing more nothing less. But because I consume an inordinate amount of western social media and engage with a number of anti-China from any and every topic imaginable reading incendiary comments just makes me loose my cool. I just can't stand the sheer hypocrisy of the west and their lackeys from the amount of lies a d hate directed towards the country of China all because it's political system isn't govern under the western democratic system. And what gets me riled up even more is my memory goes back to the darkest days of the country where millions upon millions of Chinese lives were upended, lost from the chaos unleashed against her sending and scattering families across the world to taste a better life. I don't want the country to go through that tumult again, ever and I hope that all of us Chinese would ensure to never let that happen again.
I feel the same way, just for the crime of being different, the west wants to tear China down with lies and deceit. Hence why I believe that the west particularly the USA deserves to ruination that is coming. I find the whole talk on human rights to be extremely insulting

My wife's cousin is in Yangzhou. Yesterday he told us that Yangzhou was under complete lockdown. Somehow, an old lady from Nanjing went to Yangzhou to play cards and failed to inform the relevant authorities, thereby causing mass spread. Yangzhou now has the highest number of COVID cases, surpassing Nanjing.

Sounds serious right? So what is their number of cases?

26.
Funny, I recently read an academic paper that said one of the reasons the initial outbreak in northern Italy was so bad was because of population density and high likelihood of business contacts with Chinese people as the commercial centre of Italy.

It was such an absurd conclusion to me because they are talking about population density… compared to China???

Those scientists in that academic paper should have their credentials removed.

China has much more business contacts with its neighbor countries like Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and other SEA countries not to mention Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan.

Why was the outbreak in these countries/areas so small literally in the hundreds and in some of these countries the number of cases coming back down to almost zero in the first wave of the outbreak?

These countries only got badly hit by the second waves and further waves of the virus variants that are solely the result of the incompetency of the governments in Europe/Americas/India in handling and containing the outbreak.

Well, I don’t think they were trying to be malicious, I think they arrived at a wrong conclusion because of a flawed hypothesis. Scientists are wrong all the time, doesn’t mean they lose their credentials, just some credibility.

It would be simple logic that domestic spread throughout China and international spread throughout Asia should be first. I’m not sure why this always seems to be overlooked. For this same reason, I don’t find the Ft. Detrick theory very credible either. I do wonder if EVALI (vaping disease) could be a precursor though. Unfortunately the COVID origin is now a political football which will disrupt finding the truth.

Actually I have read last year that the Chinese in Italy are the least infected with Covid compared to the general populace in Northern Italy.

Furthermore the European strain of Covid virus is different from the China strain.

There is also a problem with the antibodies itself. To work against a virus, an antibody works like it has to be compatible with a slot. Imagine the virus to be like an electronic peripheral with a slot. The antibody works by fitting into that slot.

Imagine the virus mutating so that the slot also changes. One day, the antibody can no longer fit into the slot. Doesn't matter how many antibodies the human body can produce, it won't fit the slot.

The human body produces a pallete of antibodies so if one antibody doesn't work, it will try another one. Its like this electronic hardware technicial that carries all these various adapters for every occassion.

So the race will go on, until the virus has mutated to such a form where no antibodies in the palette can fit newly modified slot. Ergo we now got a superbug.

Remember if the virus mutates too much, it won't be able to infect humans anymore.
So there is a finite number of virus mutations that you need to defeat.

If you have a vaccine which targets a variety of virus strains, theoretically you could drive cases to zero.
That prevents any further mutations from happening.

Theoretically either the infectious capabilities or the deadliness of the virus should decrease with a new strain but we’ve seen both increase with the delta variant.

We would expect new variants to be:

1. more infectious
and/or
2. be able to evade existing immunity.

If you look at deadliness, the Delta variant is still actually really low.
