LO air-frame, canards, possible internal weapons bay, side engine intakes and carrier capable. Although it won't fly supersonic, the design is quite maneuverable. A very ambition design by Baykar and if they succeed, it will propel the company to the top of the world.

According to Baykar, they plan to fly the MIUS for the first time on the 100th anniversary of the Turkish republic (18 march 2023).

  • We are running the MIUS project with our own money.
  • MIUS will operate at a cruising speed close to the speed of sound. The next prototypes will be supersonic, going above the speed of sound.
  • MIUS will have close to 1.5 tons of ammunition and payload capacity. It will be able to carry air-to-air, air-to-ground smart missiles and cruise missiles.
  • MIUS will be able to carry its munitions inside the hull so that it has a stealth design.
  • In missions where radar invisibility is not required, ammunition can be carried under the wing.
  • MIUS will be able to land and take off from LHD-class short-runway ships. It will be able to take off without the help of the catapult and land on the ship with the help of arresting cables and hooks.
  • MIUS will have aggressive maneuverability. Thus, it will be able to autonomously perform avoidance and close combat maneuvers thanks to the artificial intelligence computers we have developed.
  • MİUS will be able to work together with friendly warplanes thanks to its smart fleet autonomy equipped with artificial intelligence. Thanks to the same smart fleet autonomy capability, MIUS will also fight against the last generation manned warplanes with higher capacity.
  • I think it will break new ground in air combat with all the advantages of unmanned combat, smart fleet autonomy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Our goal is to perform the first flight of our MIUS prototype in 2023.

Nice little ships. I am guessing that Turkey will mainly use them in the Aegean Sea vs Greek submarines
Potentially, either way they are going to need plenty of small craft for their geo-political objectives for the next decade or so; on a side note this also demonstrates how Turkey is becoming even more reliant on unmanned warfare, first with the proliferation of aerial drones and now the proliferation of sea-based platforms. Turkey is slowly evolving into a force that can once again project its power outside of the Aegean and Black Sea.

Its pretty smart of them. Turkey knows where the future is and instead of wasting its time on manned platforms, it is going full steam ahead on unmanned tech. This choice allows them to get a better Return On Investment for their R&D funds.

Its kinda the same with China. It figured out which technologies would allow it to "leapfrog" the leader, the US, and it heavily invested on them.

The US on the other hand is already deeply invested on "old" technologies and warfare concepts.

As for Turkey, the potential of its MIC is immense. The way I see it, it is gearing up to capture the market of the Muslim countries. Erdogan's strongman style as protector of Muslims, also helps with marketability lol
