All of eastern Europe is like that. Corruption, zero planning and a complete lack of capital resources. All development they've had since 1989 is because of the EU gravy train, before that it was the Soviet Union. They now have low birth rates and a significant proportion of their youth have migrated to western Europe. Eastern Europe is fucked.

Once the EU gets fed up funding their largess they'll go back to pre-WW2 third world standards. Unless they can find a new "daddy".
I mean majority of the countries China is going through (for BRI) are probably worse than Montenegro in some of the issues you mentioned

This is what you have to deal (on a more and more regular basis) with as the project progresses blaming the governments, getting angry/annoyed is counter productive

As there's a reason why loans/investment doesn't go to these countries

Precisely because of the reasons you mentioned but China took that risk now you'll have to face the issues

By A- renegotiating, scandals B- taking over assets

All of the things west warned about when it comes to these projects

You can't shift all the blame on bowrrowers, lenders also have responsibilities when it comes to loans (like when you give loans to sub prime buyers you can't get away by blaming the borrower and shifting all the responsibility to em without you suffering from the consequences)

Like people said elsewhere in the forum, the tipping point here might have been Iran giving intelligence on CIA agents in China.
Add to that India shrugging off Iranian oil sales to please the US, constant delays on Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline approval, etc.
Israel is also a major weapons seller to India while Israeli sales to China were cut due to US pressure.

I don't think China need any weapon systems from Israel anymore, it is long gone years agooo. India is the biggest market for Israel

All these people mentioning Iran helping China catch CIA agents in China as if it was fact, just what are your sources?

This nonsense doesn’t come close to passing the smell test never mind actual history of what happened.

If Iranian intelligence and counter-intelligence were so ace, how come they didn’t manage to catch any of the Israeli spies murdering their top scientists in broad daylight in their own frigging capital? Or blowing up key facilities all over the place?

Even if the Iranians did manage to penetrate CIA security and access secret files, it would almost certainly be a regional mission that was compromised. And such local missions would be focusing on Iran, Syria, Libya etc and would have absolutely zero need or reason to store the master file on all CIA assets in China half a world away.

As for how China managed to obliterate US assets inside China, well that story has already been covered here in this very forum not even that long ago.

Although personally I think that was only part of the story in any case.

CHINA USED STOLEN DATA TO EXPOSE CIA OPERATIVES IN AFRICA AND EUROPE:

In 2010, a new decade was dawning, and Chinese officials were furious. The CIA, they had discovered, had systematically penetrated their government over the course of years, with U.S. assets embedded in the military, the CCP, the intelligence apparatus, and elsewhere. The anger radiated upward to “the highest levels of the Chinese government,” recalled a former senior counterintelligence executive.

, which Tehran likely shared with Beijing—from 2010 to roughly 2012, Chinese intelligence officials ruthlessly uprooted the CIA’s human source network in China, imprisoning and killing dozens of people.
