Getting ready to drop Chinese suppliers
H&M and Nike have been shown what happens to large Western companies when they banned Chinese suppliers over 'forced labour' lies.

It's a free market. Apple has the freedom to ban Chinese suppliers over lies about 'forced labour'. See what happens to Apple sales in China after that.

I do doubt that Apple would do such things. The company is led by smarter people than those on H&M and Nike.

The Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh should be sacked and replaced. Not an iota of diplomacy in his body

Foreign minister AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday said that remarks of the Chinese ambassador in Dhaka with mentions of likelihood of substantial damage to bilateral relations was unfortunate and aggressive.
Usually China does not poke its nose in matters of other countries. We have heard no one speaking in an aggressive manner like this. It is unfortunate,’ the minister said
the foreign minister said, ‘someone is talking loudly about what we would do or not! We’ll do whatever we think essential for betterment of the country.’ Bangladesh has not expected such behaviour from China, Momen added.
If BD's interests lie or not in the Quad then thats their decision. Muh "Non-interference" policy lol

Btw here is the comments made by Chinese ambassador
Chinese ambassador Li Jiming on Monday said that Bangladesh’s engagement in the US-led Indo-Pacific strategy would substantially damage Dhaka’s relations with Beijing.
Li Jiming said on Monday that it was not a good idea for Bangladesh to participate in a small club. Any form of participation for Bangladesh in this small group may substantially damage relations with China.
Undertandable stance by China. However these things are better said behind closed doors and not on front of the world!
I am sure that BD knows what is the Quad and doesn't need the ambassador to explain it to them lol

IMO he should be sacked ASAP for his incompetence

I agree. Very undiplomatic gesture towards a fellow developing country.

What makes you think for a second these concerns had not already been raised any number of times behind closed doors? Chinese diplomats only make things public when private nudges have had no effect.

You need to calm down and think things through before making rash heat-of-the-moment pronouncements about doom and gloom, especially when reading western or pro-western sources. It’s literally their reason for existence to paint China in the worst possible light and twist things to make China look bad.

You have a point here but I disagree that this was a well-planned comment by the ambassador. BD has its own (big) problems with India and it is constantly in danger from it.

With India joining the Quad and becoming the Western lovechild, BD is alarmed and will try to hedge India with China. Unless BD is suicidal, there is no way that it will join the Quad.

Which brings me to the conclusion that the Chinese Ambassador is incompetent and should be sacked ASAP as he is a national security danger by making these idiotic remarks towards BD
especially when reading western or pro-western sources.
This not a western source though. And even if it was, it wouldnt matter. These remarks were made by the Bangladesh Foreign Minister himself. So, no way to spin the propabda machine

Firstly, comments of such weight are never made off the cuff or by individuals own initiative. Not even ambassadors.

Secondly, it’s hardly a surprising or unreasonable comment to be honest. If Bangladesh joins an American created club, who’s sole and express purpose for existing is to counter China, just what the hell do you think will happen to Sino-Bangladeshi relations? Bangladesh can do what it wants, but it must accept the consequences of its own actions and choices. China is just spelling out what some of those consequences will be.

The fact that the Chinese defence minister made a trip largely to try to warn Bangladesh off this path should be evidence enough of how seriously China takes this issue, and also an indication of how many times China has already warned Bangladesh in private to have flown the defence minister all the way there during a pandemic to deliver the message.

Why do you say that the defence minister travelled to BD for this reason?

Here is Xinhua's reporting on BD' President Hamid remarks when meeting the minister:

During the meeting, Hamid said Bangladesh and China are time tested friends and reliable strategic cooperation partners, adding that his country attaches great importance to its relations with China and firmly supports the core interests of China.
Hamid said he hopes the two militaries will continue to strengthen their practical cooperation in various fields, pushing for greater progress in their relations
I know that there is some diplomatic talk here but this doesn't sound to me like a country wanting to join Quad.

I maintain my opinion that the Ambassador's remarks were "just" incompetence
