IMF & WB are just departments of the western imperialist hegemony machine (part of the post-war Bretton Woods world order), they cooperated with China from the 90s to the 1st decade of 21st century when they thought China was controllable. They think differently now and bets on India to contain China, and attract some of China's production/supply chains. Obviously things aren't working out for them...
IMF & WB feel threatened by China and for a good reason . Lets not forget that Western Institutions have had a monopoly on global lending. This was until China launched AIIB, NDB and BRI associated loans.
Now countries are no longer dependent on WB and IMF to fund them and have other institutions to look forward to.

@Sardaukar20 @Kaeshmiri this man should be India leader, a rational, realist and compassion man, clearly knows what ails his country.

And his quote " the one doing the abuse is Indian on their fellow Indians" that sums up his frustration. In my mind the Indian population is wishing/hoping a foreign intervention to clean up Indian problems from Indian themselves.

As much as this guy speaks for the oppressed in India. I still think he is more of an activist than someone who could run India. Changing India is a monumental task. The caste system goes back centuries. Back then India didn't even exist. India's culture today is so entrenched in the caste system, its gonna take a bloody revolution to really change things.

That caste system is probably the biggest obstacle for India to rise to a superpower and its not going away anytime soon.

lol Indians arent the brightest bunch buddy. They love to elect monks, tea sellers, caste leaders, communal politicians to lead them . Expecting Indians to elect a Rationalist is unrealistic.
Maybe after a Century but not now.

Looks like COVID has minimal impacts on economy.
Well 80% sounds good as its yoy. Same month last year India was under a strict lockdown. Hence the Rosy figure.

Also this time there isn't any strict lockdown, industries are running normally. Impact would most likely be on consumption. Rest all sectors would perform well .

Impact maybe minimal on paper but real time things are different.

Well as pharma is one of India's key exports {the others are refined petroleum products and jewellery/diamonds), and imports grew at almost exactly the same rate the causal relationship would indicate import of vaccine feedstock, export of vaccines.

Also the stats are purported to be for last week, they must have one hell of a commerce department with fully automated excise data collection or trivial import/exports to be able to collate the stats that quickly! The UK should buy a copy of that system would avoid all that Brexit import/export processing delays!

But hey, things must be going gangbusters for the Indian economy, honest!

This is why they won’t implement another ineffectual lockdown. It’ll kill the economy as well as people.

Anish Kapoor is Jewish and left India for Israel as soon as he got the chance. Despite his very Indian sounding name he's about as Indian as a beef vindaloo.

Anything he says on India's poor is the equivalent of a western celebrity talking about climate change while riding private jets, driving ferraris, etc.
