China's strategic vulnerabilities

China really need to up it's game. The USA is allocating more money to destabilize China and other ' non-compliant countries'

US to offer millions in new funds to take on China

If they look, swim and quack like US influence operations, they probably are US influence operations, especially when they come with an annual price tag of US$300 million to be authorised as law by the US Congress, of which US$10 million has been earmarked especially for Hong Kong

When the Chinese do it, it’s propaganda. When Washington does it, it’s “investing in our values”. The last phrase is taken from the Strategic Competition Act of 2021, newly passed by the United States Senate and will soon become law. It aims squarely at China and enjoys bipartisan support.

Buried deep within the 270-plus pages of the document is a provision to fund influence operations in Hong Kong with a budget of US$10 million for next year. I quote from Section 301: “Authorisation of Appropriations for Promotion of Democracy in Hong Kong.

“There is authorised to be appropriated US$10,000,000 for fiscal year 2022 for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour of the Department of State to promote democracy in Hong Kong.”

The large sum will more than make up for the US$2 million that was originally budgeted for anti-government protesters and rioters in 2019 but was cancelled because of an unrelated internal purge of key staff at the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM) by former president Donald Trump. We know this from congressional testimonies conducted by the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee last September.

Hong Kong story is over for them. 2019 was their best chance to cause chaos and they blew it. With NSL in place, HK is now deeply integrated with China and no amount of money will make an impact anymore.
This allocation is more to placate the China hawks in the administration.

It is not just about Hong kong. If it was I would've posted in the Hong Kong thread. It is about containing China. Hong Kong it just a mean, and now that avenue is shut, which is why they are now going after uyghurs, Taiwan, SCS etc.

The problem is the US is not just investing in propaganda, they are actively sponsoring anti-state protesters and politicians with movements all over the globe. These typically have limited popular support and rely on demonstrations and violent riots to achieve their aims.

The biggest problem with this whole thing is a difference of way of thinking between the Chinese/Eastern and the American/Western.

Chinese believes in "抵巇" (from 《鬼谷子》). In simpler words, Chinese believes that "those which can't kill you, will only make you stronger". In this sense, Chinese grand strategist would try to formulate a long term strategy in which it maximizes the potential of something happening (for example, a potential cause for internal usurpation, or revolt, etc), while hold the key of triggering that event as a token of power: one which you can either choose to help the enemy country, or to ruin the enemy country. In fact, Chinese culture do NOT believe that it is always necessary to eliminate or destroy your enemy, but rather to weaken their ability to exert power over you.

The Westerners/Americans believe that they are the chosen one, the sons of God. It is their birthright to rule the world and have ultimate power over other people/country/races. They believe in taking advantage of every little opportunities to create instability in anyone they deem to be their adversary(i.e. China), and to overlook the faults (i.e., India) of those allies they could gain. This way of thinking has been given them enough victories in the past 500 years that they believe that this is the only right way. They haven't take enough damage and encountered enough downfall to trigger a serious self-reflection and rethinking.

They problem is, the history I have been seeing in the last 150 years, is a history of Anglo-American led western world continuously creating and strengthening new and more powerful enemies. And gradually but steadily, they loses the average gaps (advantage) between them and their current and potential adversary.

You can't destroy China this way. In fact, you will only make China stronger. Because China's structure of control has stood the proof of time long before the Westerners entered the game. To say it bluntly (any maybe offensively), it is impossible to cause secession in Xinjiang and Tibet, not because the West didn't try hard enough, but because secession in this land needs strong and time-proven local/authentic structure of control that have long ceased to exist:
1. Tibet can't even unite itself without China. (This is also the reason for “三武一宗灭佛”, because uncontrolled Buddhism dissolves imperial structure of control)
2. Uyghurs are people who have a long history of being China's left/right hand, they have long lost the vigor of a powerful centralized regime. They are only slightly less decentralized, with slightly lower religiosity than the Tibetans. And to be frank, Islam too similar to Chinese, in which they both need a grand-unified country/regime to collectivize the multitude of different people and culture. Islam does NOT work with Western invention of small and functional Nation States in the web of a Greater grand-civilization. Islam work best with unification. Uyghur Turkistan is nothing but a weakling waiting to be swallowed. A Grand unified Islamic State/Daesh(大食)is actually a whole different story.

Therefore, in the long run of history, I don't know what to think of the West/Anglo-Americans. Sure, they plundered, they destroyed, they killed, they humiliated other people. But they are also what I would call Stem-Civilization, in which they actually elevate the whole world (especially their enemies) drastically, in terms of development, technology, level of control, etc. They are bad, but thank their God, they are not smart enough to badder.

For example, Poland (or the Baltic States) under Soviet Control is a potential internal problem for the USSR, because these countries do have a much longer tradition of a local/authentic structure of control. But incorporating them into the USSR, they USSR is actually gaining internal potential for instability. Therefore, helping secessionism in these "countries"/regions is a good strategy against the USSR.

China is different. China is sitting on a place where there are traditionally 3 different levels of players present:
- Top Level: Nomadic Overlord, the Agrarian Overlord, and the Mixed Overlord, occasionally Maritime Overlord.
- Mid Level: Smaller states/principalities or people in the frontier area that is either militarily/politically involved in the conflict between the Top Level players. Or those who are simply in the trade block (aka. the Tribute System) of one or more Top Level players.
- Bottom Level: Merchant groups, bandit groups, pirates, mercenaries, missionaries, religious sects, etc.

Secession will only happen when there are at least one or more Top Level Player present, even if in names only (for example, the ROC was a Top Level Player, right now it is only one in name only. Uyghurs, Tibetans and HKers' are at most Mid Level Players (by today's situation, they hardly have enough power to be anything more than Bottom Level). Giving them a bit of Western Propaganda does NOT do anything meaningful.

If the US/West really want secession. They should stop wasting money on UTH, stop support the DPP secession. Instead, they should concentrate all their resources in ROC, get rid of those "taiwan independence" fools and restart the "Retake Mainland" (反攻大陆) campaign. Without a Top Level Player to pit against PRC in the China game, these little potatoes who only care about their little pockets of land and people, their fate is to be easily taken care of by the much greater, higher level PRC central government.

US seen as bigger threat to democracy than Russia or China, global poll finds

The US faces an uphill task presenting itself as the chief guardian of global democracy, according to a new poll that shows the US is seen around the world as more of a threat to democracy than even Russia and China.
The poll finds support for democracy remains high even though citizens in democratic countries rate their governments’ handling of the Covid crisis less well than people in less democratic countries.
Inequality is seen as the biggest threat to global democracy, but in the US the power of big tech companies is also seen as a challenge.
The findings come in a poll commissioned by the Alliance of Democracies Foundation among 50,000 respondents in 53 countries.

The results will make stark reading for the G7 foreign ministers as they hold a final day of talks in London in which they have collectively assumed the role as

China's problem with propaganda is Beijing still wants to come across as civilized and diplomatic. China should be mocking and spinning everything of the US and Great Britain into something negative. China doesn't have to lie, the US media does all the dirty work for China. China just has to twist the knife while it's in. The US does it to China. Racism in the US means there's no democracy in the US because the basis of a democracy is that everyone is treated as a equal. That's no happening. Then China should start teaching its citizens the history of human rights crimes by the West all over the world. I think it's pretty sickening that Hong Kongers didn't identify with Black Lives Matter but then we know police brutality was just being used as an excuse and not the reason for their protests. Back during the whole thing over China using Australian human rights crimes in Afghanistan against them, I think it was siegecrossbow that posted an editorial from an Afghan paper where the Editor was happy to see another country recognize what the Afghani people are going through. China is guilty of what the West is doing just using that incident to use for its own geopolitical purposes because you don't see China following through but the editor was happy someone else was bringing it up at least. China needs to do more of that and not just a fling just to take a swipe at a Western country. That's what's going to win the hearts and minds of the rest of the world unless it's just like every other Asian country where all they care is what the West thinks of them. There's a whole world out there where everyone else feels alone. The US is afraid of China's Belt and Road because these are all the other countries the West ignore and saw no value in helping them. Look at how the US uses island nations against China at the UN. That's because these small countries can easily be bought off with beautiful American blonde tourists coming to their countries blessing them with their presence. The US is afraid China will use Belt and Road countries against the US in the same manner but these countries aren't going be dependent on tourism so they can't be easily bought.

@jimmyjames30x30And Bro the greatest example of that is the Korean War and the 1962 China India border conflict , both instances achieve China's goal objectives. Ohhh!!! I almost forgot to include the 1979 Sino Vietnam war... ;)
