Understandably, it is propaganda from the US media. However, most of his points have been reported and repeated throughout all major MSM. Maybe, it has no bearing on what Chinese government going to do. These articles do shape the US politics and policies and what tools they are going to employ to contain China.

I actually read the article from start to end, as I feel it is important to understand the thinking of the enemy.
Enemy thinking:
1- The Chinese people want to rebel all the time for seemingly no reason.
2- Everything China achieves is fake or doesn't count for some reason. (Ignore significant ongoing development in all aspects)
3- Chinese military is all about internal security as if the police doesn't exist.
4- Chinese military don't train despite spending 3x more than the closest follower.
5- It is aging so it will collapse tomorrow (ignore most European and east asian countries are in a worse condition without much problems)
6- It is indebted so it will collapse tomorrow

They are just pretending they are doing something.

It has to be real.

That is Marxist-Leninism-Mao Zedong thought. That is ideology.

It has to be real. It is the material dialect. Thesis, anti-thesis, resolution.

China has a fast growing economy, biggest trading nation, biggest manufacuturer, ect ...

That is real. That is thesis. What is the anti-thesis? A coalition.

Fine, there is a coalition. We make that assumption. What exactly is this coalition gonna do?

There is no anti-thesis put forth by anyone as of today.

In fact, can we even think of one that can work?

Right now, one side is going to win and hammer the other side, because in the material dialectic, the other side of the argument must present its case.

So far, no such presentation has been attempted, other than a dubious claim of western unity.

The CCP cannot take that seriously, and they fully expect to crush these American lead efforts at containment. Full stop!

There should be no illusion that any capitalist powers would be on the side of China. Any improvement of relationship with them are transactionary and temporary. Time to "give up illusions and prepare to fight".

The world has changed. I got a different take on it and cannot agree with this.
  • AIIB, Obama did not want others to join, how many joined?

  • BRI - the only game in town, nothing comparable to this

  • Huawei - very few countries listened to the Americans

  • RCEP - everyone signs except India (it figures)

  • Xinjiang - and a handful of non-binding motions, Ha!

There are probably much more of these examples, they all show the same pattern.

A lot of noise, but very little enthusiasm in the follow through.

Why is that? The answer could be rather simple.

China offers a better deal.

Unless the Americans can offer a better deal, then China is going to kick their diplomatic ass.

It is not about capitalism or socialism, it is all about getting a better deal.

That is what CCP says ... "at this stage of development" ... then they offer you a deal. A lot of countries signed up for the BRI, they want a deal. They want development.

Unless you're India of course. Then it is back to what they are use to.

:D
