If it is just a hedge against the future technology trend, then it is fine.

Fuel cell may be a viable industrial solution. To commercial or personal consumption, its psychological cost is too high. It would only take one accident inside a city center to set it all the way back. But technologically, it should be a worthy alternative until proven otherwise.

Companies with wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles exceeding 10,000 units in March included SAIC-GM-Wuling with 41,491 units, Tesla China with 35,478 units, and BYD with 23,906 units.
Unfortunately, many fanbois.
Tesla Model 3 sales in March were 25,327 units, up 85 percent from the previous month.

Model Y sales exceeded 10,000 in a single month, reaching 10,151 units, up 119 percent from the previous month.

Why against Tesla?

That Tesla gets so many sales means they got something right, marketing, tech, ease-of-use etc.
If the Chinese EV are lagging behind then it is their fault for being incompetent. So the Chinese should roll their sleeves and go back to work to.improve their models. When they finally manage to beat Tesla domestically, then thats when they would be ready to go global

Toyota invested too much of its resources into fuel cell. That's why its CEO is complaining. It is not that Toyota's CEO really dislikes EV but rather Toyota has made the wrong bet and needed time to catch up with its competitors.
Toyota is now lagging in the EV market, and will probably be relegated to a second tier EV maker. It looks like toyota is becoming like Nokia, which was once a leader in cellphone, but was lagging in the smartphone market.

I think Xiaomi has a strange but an innovative ecosystem. All these smart devices they have would be an attractive ecosystem for normal people. Now add the the car on top of it and I foresee that Xiaomi would be able to offer a very competitive product/ecosystem.

I am just waiting for Xiaomi to refine their smart home devices on a singular platform and then connect their car on it. That would be gamechanging feature of Xiaomi products
Xiaomi is trouncing Apple in the EV market. If xiaomi is able to use Huaiwe's Harmony OS, it will be a leader in the EV and smartphone markets.

Tesla cars are actually pretty low quality. They have so many defects and bugs and mechanical failures.

I agree with the analyst assessment that the value of Tesla sales in Europe and China will be near zero in 10 years time.

Tesla will struggle with European styling because their home market prefers ugly American styling.
And can you imagine China allowing fleets of self-driving cars controlled by the USA?

That still leaves the US, but that simply isn't enough to justify their valuation

Teslas success is more to do with Elon Musk than their vehicles. The guy has cultivated a Tony Stark image and has a cult like following across the world. People are investing in Him rather than his company per se.

I dont blame them. SpaceX is pretty incredible and it his biggest achievement to date.

Instead of the other billionaires, looking at you Jack Ma and other Chinese rich people, storing their money on the bank and doing it nothing with them, Elon invests on his dreams ans he is building innovative companies.

So these Chinese who sit and play with their money should start doing something worthwile by building innovative companies too. They are already openly mocked for trying to squeeze poor micro-sellers and not doing real R&D
