“In 2020, we worked with one coal mine, one iron and steel plant, and one port,” said Ren Zhengfei, Huawei’s founder and chief executive, during a round table meeting in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi, in February. “Over the next two to three years, we aim to work with hundreds of coal mines, iron and steel plants, and ports.”

That is what I thought this entire United States government versus Huawei 5G war was all about. Huawei was going to get there first, and achieve first mover advantage, then dominate the market in both hardware and applications.

(Apparently it really was about something else, what people are saying today, seems like there is some sort of attempt to change the narrative on why there was and still is a fight between the United States government and Huawei 5G).

The next two to three years, Huawei will be expanding its 5G installations, and 5G services to all sorts of industrial applications. Then they could host all the data generated on their Huawei 5G servers.

The next two to three years, the United States government will still be going around saying Huawei is bad, Huawei is a security risk, and Huawei should be banned.

The next two to three years, some people (mostly people working in the US Congress) will still believe that this United States government strategy is actually working, and that Huawei is about to collapse any moment.

Something is gotta give as them expressions go.

If you want some sour grapes from a certain country, go read those comments. They are at the end of their wits.

I said it yesterday and I'll say it again: If the U.S. wants to exert any kind of control over China's tech they should be working much more closely with them. If we shared information equitably and had mutual interest in success, we'd have both a better idea of what China's technology could do and even have a modicum of influence.

This is just another step for China to progress without us when both countries could be making the world better instead.

It is now clear that the US is a burden to the world's supply chain and economic stability. China should work with all the other countries to counter US threats, sanctions and unfair trade tariffs.

Is China the only country doing research in this field?

China has made a breakthrough in converting solar energy into liquid fuels, with a project producing a liquid product with 99.5% methanol content, according to

.
The success, which was achieved in January 2020 and recently received CCTV coverage, is the first attempt to synthesize direct solar fuels on a global scale.
The project, if operating at full capacity, could produce 1,500 tons of methanol per year, consume 2,000 tons of CO2 and generate 15 million kWh of electricity using solar energy, the report said, citing experts.
China's annual methanol production capacity is about 80 million tons, and in 2019, China accounted for 29 percent of global CO2 emissions. If solar fuel is used to synthesize methanol, hundreds of millions of tons of CO2 can be reduced each year.
The research work on "artificial photosynthesis for solar fuels production" started in 2001: the first step is to turn light into energy in the form of photovoltaic power, the second step is to electrolyze water to make hydrogen, and the third step is to hydrogenate carbon dioxide to make methanol.

Researchers have calculated that each ton of hydrogen produced by electrolysis of water is equivalent to 33,000 kWh of electricity stored. Converting electrical energy into chemical energy is the most efficient chemical energy storage reaction.
If methanol is used as a fuel instead of coal, PM2.5 emissions will be reduced by more than 80% and NOx by more than 90%.
