Just wondering, what level is SMEE's 28nm DUV on?

It it comparable to the ASML 1980Di or 2000i ?

The current model of the SMEE 28nm DUVL is equivalent to the ASML 1980i.
This means it can produce 12nm -14nm Chips.

All the FABs in China like SMIC, Huahong etc use the 1980i. So this new SMEE DUVL will replace the 1980i.
ASML is not yet allowed to sell the 2000i model in China.

It will take roughly 12months for SMEE to come up with an equivalent machine to the ASML 2000i.
They will work with the FABs using the new DUVL and get feedback to produce a newer model with greater precision and accuracy.

Not trying to be a smart aleck, But they can compare it with the latest Japanese DUVL model? I'm sure some Chinese FABS had brought some?

When SMEE develops its equivalent of the ASML 2000i, this should be able to compare with the latest Japanese DUVL Models.
The Japanese mainly concentrate on DUVL so they do make a good product. The latest Japanese DUVL from Nikon can also do 5nm.
The Japanese are stuck with DUVL as they have been frozen out of the EUVL market.
Chinese FABs do buy Japanese DUVL and Gigaphoton does sell very good upgraded Arf Light Sources for these machines.
Japanese DUVL has been doing well since the Trump sanctions. It now has a leading market share in China for Lithographs.

This Machine as far as i know is fully Chinese made.
All the main components of the machine are made by local companies.

Optics - Guowang Optics
Immersion System - Qier
Dual Stage Workbench - Huazhou
Light Source - Keyi Hongyuan

ASML is still not allowed to sell its latest DUVL NXT2000i to China so its unlikely any foreign company will be allowed to sell any parts for a Chinese made Lithograph.

The first article from Verdict makes no mention of SMEE 28nm using foreign components.

The second article from Pro-American Website Toms Hardware written by Anton Shilov (China sceptic) is completely unreliable and is not worth the paper it is written on.

One must be careful about Western, Japanese and Taiwanese articles written by so called Experts who dont read Chinese, have never been to China and who probably have no idea what they are talking about.

Most likely they made it up.
SMEE is under sanctions by the US Government. Unlikely any Japanese Companies would dare to deal with SMEE.
The reason it took SMEE almost a decade to develop its 90nm DUVL was because it couldnt get the required parts from Overseas suppliers.
SMEE had to develop the entire 90nm DUVL with locally produced components and finally succeeded in doing so in 2016.
Thats why it took SMEE so long to develop their first Lithograph.
Same goes with the 28nm DUVL.

Smee SSA800 capable of 7nm with multiple exposure is comparable to asml 2000i which still cost $90mil. With major components like laser, projection lens, and precision stage sourced from domestic players.
If they got this down, self sufficiency can be proclaimed provided that domestic players designed and manufactured mixed signals chips for cars and industrial control. Not just easier to designed digital CPUs like they overly focused like before

I have respect for analog and mixed signals chip even simple chip like charger chip such as byd charger chip.
Not so much for digital chip especially that doesn't involved manufacturing. Even Alibaba have their high end cpu chip. Good grief! Barrier to entry is very low.

Analog and mixed signals chip doesn't require that high an end of process technology. 60 nm process is probably good enough since it requires a certain amount of power and reliability for the harsh environment of industrial control and automotive applications.
