I could only wish. They going to resort to terrorism? They had two years of rioting ruining Hong Kong and China is the only country growing in the world at "the end" of it. Where's that fantasy that Hong Kong was China's economy for them to think they had to power to ruin China's economy? Maybe if they resort to terrorism and kill innocent civilians, the US will protect them like that guy that got shot after trying take a policeman's gun...

They are already terrorists, practice with real terrorist group. There were news covering this a while ago. That Kermit Muppet Joshua wong has photos with some terrorists leaders. They also acted like terrorists in the riot, terrorizing the whole HK.

To ruin China's economy is their wet dream. I believe that is the masterminds' target. Those useful idiot rioters roles was only to destabilize and be the cannon fodder. The devils behind the screen were hoping China will send tanks again or will at least repressive to those rioters, so that the scenario of Tiananmen square could be repeated. If that happens, those 5eyes countries will joinly put sanctions and force other countries to join too. Not very pretty if that really happen.

The US and the gang will probably only receive some of those useful idiots to further train them for next riot. The useless idiots will be rejected blatantly as has been shown by US senator Ted Cruz recently. Not surprising, who would want to accept those terrorists whom usefulness is only to cause harm to the society.

The reason I posted that article in the link was only to raise awareness of HKers. I think it's good for HKers to know that there are some of those rioters still running free and possibly are planning something ugly. Better be cautious than be sorry later.

Hong Kong's economy and morale have been badly battered by the riot and pandemic. The NSL has stopped the bleeding, but it needs a broader strategy for revival and revitalization. The solution is in further integration with the mainland and GBA.

There are many “refugees” fleeing Hong Kong – from the barely controlled pandemic and its many related restrictions of movement and business – to the much safer and less restricted mainland.

But they are travelling in high numbers, and legally. Unsurprisingly, they are rarely reported in the foreign press, which much prefers the narrative of “political refugees” – or rather fugitives from Hong Kong law – escaping persecution or worried locals emigrating pre-emptively. The fact is that there are movements in both directions.

In the first week of December when the new wave of Covd-19 cases was hitting a peak, more than 31,000 Hong Kong residents left for the mainland, Immigration Department figures show. A total of 50,500 went to the mainland in November.
While authorities have yet to reopen the border to Hong Kong, many locals are willing to put up with quarantine and pay for it rather than staying in the gloomy city.

Meanwhile, more Hong Kong people are considering work on the mainland, including government jobs. A total of 446 candidates from Hong Kong and Macau last month took a written test run by the Shenzhen government to compete for just five civil service openings.

The five jobs were part of an initiative under the Greater Bay Area plan to integrate southern Chinese cities into a regional economic engine of growth.

Foreign politicians and pundits have been predicting an exodus of Hong Kong people moving to Western countries. They may be right in the short term. But as the Chinese economy takes off to become the world’s largest in the next few years and the southern region emerges as a global economic and technological powerhouse, the migration trends will inevitably be for Hong Kong people seeking their fortunes and opportunities north of their border.

Mainland authorities are already preparing for easier channels to allow locals to work, live and seek education in GBA-designated cities.

But it’s not just about economic incentives. Hong Kong people need to be encouraged to develop a national identity and belonging. To this end, more quality civil service jobs should be open to them.

For those who have proved their talent, commitment and loyalty, there should be a clear path for them to become members of the Chinese Communist Party. Hong Kong youngsters should also be allowed to volunteer to join the People’s Liberation Army, to give them a stake in the nation’s defence.

If there's a silver lining to covid, it could be that young Hong Kongers will check out China and work together with mainland. Instead of thinking China as some evil place.

Yep, but that shows their hypocrisy, also showing they could be planning for next chaos.

I hope by now hk people acknowledge already of what really was hk riot all about. Its actually color revolution. Their target is to topple the gov, like what happened Ukraine and else where. It's still in the making in Thailand, hopefully Thai people realize and make it fair too.

In HK, prop the have to be aware of any kind of foreign missions veiled in various NGOs, like FLG. Don't let them sprout and don't let them gain members.
There is always covert methods in dealing with these things, just as western intelligence has provoked, and continues to support these terrorists, China can also play dirty if it has to without resorting to violence
If massive riots were to happen again, another covid outbreak can happen, therefore authorities have no other choice but to enforce lockdowns and hk public won't have any excuse to complain and might be blaming these protestors for causing the outbreak

I was thinking of this just before seeing the article. He is right on the money. One of the reasons HK identity has been co opted so easily the past 20 years is that the one country has not been emphasized enough.
Easily joining PLA and mandarin learning should be made top priorities. They should also get rid of separate SAR Olympic teams and enhance athletic pursuits in HK.

Also, I actually think the BNO and other such offers of “refugee” status should be welcomed and encouraged. It can be HK version of “Mariel Boatlift” and get rid of all the undesirables. The reality is that if you are able to cut it, you won’t leave. If you really think West is heaven, then CCP will never change your mind.

Fantastic. This really stick a finger up the conservatives party the orchestrated this debacle with the help of Farage and his gang.

Now Farage is a little Englander. He couldn't care less about Scotland or anyone else. Where as, most conservatives are ultra unionist. Yet at the same time anti-european. And here they can't have their cakes and eat it.

Yes, it's great isn't it. The U.K. thought it gain the moral high ground by loudly lauding their offer of "citizenship" with BNO passport holders for political point scoring (if they really wanted to do, they should've done it before the hand over).

Be that as it may, if they CAN carry their promises through their right wing xenophobic parties. Then good luck and good riddance to bad rubbish.
