Here's a video on the powered exoskeletons in service.

I may be failing to see things properly but what part of the body are those exoskeletons suppose to support? Doesn't it add a lot of weight to the legs and back? Can someone tell me how are these useful?

Spine. Helps with lifting by providing additional power to the hip muscles that straighten the back.

Wearing a powered exoskeleton without leg supports. I wonder how much this system weighs.

As much as I love it, these things look like a pain to use in small corridors. Also yes, I wonder how much they weigh as well. Can't wait for the whole body piece suit.

Not much of a stretch to go from using a shield to wearing armor plates that can stop small arms fire.

I think this is probably more likely for reducing stamina usage... so that the soldier can keep a high ready position or shoulder the rifle in position for longer... the shield can also be held in position for longer before tiring out the soldier...
I agree. How often do we see anyone using a ballistic shield and a rifle? Pretty much never until now. Firing a rifle with one hand is basically useless if you want to hit anything. It is typically shield with pistol for that reason.

The fact that this allows shield and rifle pairing already shows that it probably is a massive reduction in arm stamina/strength requirement, transfering the load to the waist.

Now just pair this up with the leg braces and it could be a potential winner.
