Power Armor?

This is my main point as well. People tend to only think of protection, but being able to carry heavier and more advanced gear while potentially lowering the felt weight of it all on a soldier is an incredible game-changer. Even now, the rear units like artillery and logi are using the exoskeletons to great effect. Some of the geniuses in R&D will probably make a true, fully armoured power armor in a few decades. It's only going to get better from here on out.

You don't need armor for that though, an exoskeleton is enough.

I mean the problem with armor has never been the weight, if you wanted extra protection just thin and light flak armor is enough, the problem throughout all of time has been putting it on and taking it off. If we were to look at a historical example, plate armor was 15-25kg, with modern material science we can make this much lighter but it still doesnt solve the problem of wearing the damn thing

I think it could be useful as the spearhead in an infantry charge. The limbs could be protected against shrapnel and small caliber guns, the front of the body and the head against 50 cal, and each soldier could be carrying a 30mm autocannon. Think of it as a distributed IFV, where each individual soldier has the armor and firepower of an IFV. It would have less speed but more agility, the ability to navigate more complex terrain, and presents a smaller target. It would need similar anti-drone and anti-mine support as an IFV would, but if IFVs have a role on the battlefield, then the powered armor can as well.
