Looks like a new chassis too, not just the turret and cannon. Interestingly it doesn't seem to have amphibious capability, unlike previous
Chinese IFVs. Also, still using HJ-73?

God I'm so sick of HJ-73 and as well those damn unguided rockets on fixed-wing aircraft after all these years. Is this a case of massive stockpikes from decades ago or is it a case of interests group meddling?

Stockpiles. Because Chinese arms industry are state-owned any aren't really competing with each other like private enterprises.

Thats a more and more common design aspect thanks to more Urban fighting. The ability to be attacked from above increases risks to AFVs. Having an extremely high degree of elevation means that those who may try that suddenly have a nasty surprise. Since this doesn’t see to have a radar no it’s not dedicated triples A.

The turret is remote controlled?
I think there would soon be a new generation of IFV for the PLA on the way, it has being precedents for export vehicles to lay the foundation of new generation of service IFVs.
