Lol, 105mm gun, 30mm auto cannon. What kind of enemy PLA from HK garrison fight? Alien cockroach with body of the Rock Johnson! Nope, just bunch of low life small brain coward cockroach get herd by some fatty old white trash. They just need some normal machine gun and that enough to keep cockroach in check.

The problem with the public relation efforts by the PLA HK garrison is that they are way too much of Chinese mindset. Very utilitarian and not flashy enough. A good example is that demonstration exercise a few years ago, it was a great demonstration for actual military people, but for the masses, there are not nearly enough bang and boom. This is disconcerting.

With today's technology, the original mission and doctrine of the PLA HK garrison is outdated. the PLA has more than enough army aviation (rotary aircrafts) capability to contain and restore order to HK by projecting PAP forces from outside of HK.

The HK garrison's location, in today's technological environment, does not really present a significant advantage over the option projecting PAP forces from outside of HK. So the force structure of the HK garrison should not be optimized for a lightly armed, PAP level of mechanization combined brigade. What the HK Garrison today should be, is a technological demonstration unit to present to the world a highly informationalized/digitized Medium to light combined armed PLA urban unit, armed with the domestic version of exportable equipment.

Right now the trends seem to be that you have armored forces with MBT and IFV, tracked ACPs, MRAPS class Utility vehicles. That’s your heavy.
then you have Mechanized Infantry with 8x8s including vehicles like this With IFV class turrets MRAPS class utility vehicles That’s medium. (See Stryker BTC and Strike Brigades (Boxer)
Finally light infantry with thin skinned vehicles dropped by aircraft with light armor assets to augment them. Airborne.

The recently photographed new 8x8 are likely a further evolution of the ZBL-08. They added thicker applique plates to increase protection. It's not known what other modifications have been made to the chassis, such as the powerpack or suspension. But they appear to be based on the ZBL-08.

I believe there are some differences in the chassis of the new 8x8 compared to ZBL-08. First is the Rear ramp. Second would be the armor.
The third is the shaping of the hull, especially around the wheel well. Fourth, the engine is located in the front beside the driver location and has a slightly modified arrangement. The change is most visible for the assault gun version. ZBL-08 one has the engine at the rear, while the new one seems to put the turret in the same 8x8 chassis as the new IFV, so it still has an engine at the front and ramp at the rear.
