My issue with churches is the image of having a white savior that is pushed on the psyche of Asians to worship the White man and rely upon him there for salvation and purpose.
Jesus wasn't white, and depictions of him in Asia aren't universally white either. For example:
Submission is something to be glorified
Submission is a common theme in most religions. Buddha was Indian. Does that make Buddhism bad for China, because it's requiring Chinese people to pray to a foreigner? Or are you going to say that Buddha was "Asian" so makes it ok?
Anyway, portrails of Jesus are a matter of art, not faith. It's up to a church what style any paintings they have will take. If you were Christian and went to church, you could suggest to your priest to mix it up a bit. Hell, you could pay for a painting and give it as a gift.
If we cannot agree on acceptability racially-motivated hostility. There is nothing much to discuss with you I'm afraid.
You weren't exactly specific about what your sister has said, but at the least we can talk about whether her current views are the fault of the entirety of Christian faith in Hong Kong or just a particular group of her current friends.
