Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

Does a week late in releasing genome sequence make any difference? No of course not, the MSM is hanging on straw man here and you are quoting it?

I take it you know better than health experts?

"Between the day the full genome was first decoded by a government lab on Jan. 2 and the day WHO declared a global emergency on Jan. 30, the outbreak spread by a factor of 100 to 200 times, according to

from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The virus has now infected over 6 million people worldwide and killed more than 375,000.

“It’s obvious that we could have saved more lives and avoided many, many deaths if China and the WHO had acted faster,” said Ali Mokdad, a professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

However, Mokdad and other experts also noted that if WHO had been more confrontational with China, it could have triggered a far worse situation of not getting any information at all.

If WHO had pushed too hard, it could even have been kicked out of China, said Adam Kamradt-Scott, a global health professor at the University of Sydney. But he added that a delay of just a few days in releasing genetic sequences can be critical in an outbreak. And he noted that as Beijing’s lack of transparency becomes even clearer, WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’s continued defense of China is problematic."

"Throughout January, the World Health Organization publicly praised China for what it called a speedy response to the new coronavirus. It repeatedly thanked the Chinese government for sharing the genetic map of the virus “immediately,” and said its work and commitment to transparency were “very impressive, and beyond words.”

But behind the scenes, it was a much different story, one of significant delays by China and considerable frustration among WHO officials over not getting the information they needed to fight the spread of the deadly virus, The Associated Press has found.

Despite the plaudits, China in fact sat on releasing the genetic map, or genome, of the virus for more than a week after three different government labs had fully decoded the information. Tight controls on information and competition within the Chinese public health system were to blame, according to dozens of interviews and internal documents."

It has no name or author associated with it. Is it news, blog, opinion, advertisement, fairytale story, no-credibility Pompeo propaganda, or perhaps Mr. T himself?

Hence no credibility.

You need to be less gullible or just choose to be gullible.

Lol, just because it doesn't have a specific named journalist it's fake? Have a look on their website. Some articles have names on, others don't.

Or the South China Morning Post. This article just says "Politico", it doesn't have a named journalist either. I guess the SCMP is actually a fake website? Or perhaps I hacked the SCMP website and wrote it myself. :D

Oh, and here's the SCMP actually using an Associated Press article rather than writing their own.

You need to email SCMP urgently to let them know that they're using articles from a fake news organisation. :D

Anybody can post on the internet. I check the author of any post to validate credibility and motives before I take it seriously. That's me critical with my source but you are welcome to be less critical and gullible as you wish.

What you posted was a narrative to influence opinion and highly suspect.

You can't post on a private news organisation's website. As I've just shown you Associated Press is respected enough that newspapers around the world cite their work. That doesn't mean that everything in the article is 100% correct - there might be errors. However, because it's an important article there's no prospect that AP would have let some random person publish it there.

Normally when you don't see an individual journalist's name there, it means that lots of staff members have worked on it. You don't see a news article with 10+ names on it, nor does one person take credit for others' work. Hence it just saying Associated Press rather than "Bob Smith, Sally Jones, David Lau, Ellen Tomita, David Johnson, Paul Grimes, etc."

Even Xinhua has an MOU with AP, which they wouldn't do if there weren't a serious organistion or were somehow biased against China.

Honestly you trying to attack the article because it doesn't have one person's name on it makes you look ridiculous.

Regardless. It can be any charlatan with ulterior motives. You choose your source and I choose my source. I choose to be more critical specially when it relates to opinion piece imitating news.

Anyway I'll take note on how you vet your information and treat them as such.

What is really ridiculous is how gullible people can be without validating.

No, it cannot be any "charlatan with ulterior motives". As I've already said, and you've deliberately stuffed your fingers into your ears to ignore, no one can simply log on to the AP website to upload whatever they like. It's not a forum. The fact you're unable or unwilling to process this information is baffling.

It's fairly clear that this was an article written by a number of AP staff members and therefore authorised at the highest levels. If you have some grounds for suspecting AP as a whole, feel free to post them. But given how even Chinese newspapers use AP articles you've got a high hurdle to get over.

You choose your source and I choose my source.

Just make sure it's not an AP article with the AP accreditation missing and your "trusty news source" taking credit for it. :D

Since you are so adamant. Can you post the sources for the various claims on that article since the author is obviously unknown. AP is reliable because why, you say so. AP also have many opinion pieces that are not news. This one is not news and reads more like a opinion piece imitating news.

An can you name any one of the AP Staff member to provide a source of credibility?
