What happened to sea trials?

They had a country wide shutdown for some weeks now. So in theory sea trials pushed back by same time. So expect to see sea trial mid June 2030.

What's 4 rafales going to do? It takes years of training to get a pilot up to speed and certified on a new plane, especially one that's unfamiliar. It's not like transitioning from a su27 to su30.

Token effort due to how the bureaucracy works. Certain political and military figures have an interest in projecting a sense of security for the sake of other political and military figures along with the general public. Many obviously realise four rafales won't bring a world of change, but it pays (literally) to keep promoting the idea that Rafales are invincible pieces of hardware that multiply the effectiveness of the IAF beyond what it actually could offer. Anyway chances are in a real war, most airfields and fighters stationed will not even get a chance to take off. India generally has quite a unified voice when it comes to the majority of Hindus. There will be zero questioning and it helps India's main rival if the military branch genuinely thinks expediting four Rafales will make any significant difference.

Obviously that's not to say Rafales are no good. 36 of them piloted by well trained professionals will be quite a force multiplier for IAF against PAF. Would love to see how well they fare in the next engagement. PAF should be able to crush them very convincingly and if Modi is willing to try, PAF will respond with greater severity hopefully.

I was thinking of that. Yes Rafales are capable plane, but the news headline make it sound like this is going to tip the balance in India's favour, and therefore it is urgently needed. Really?

Typical sensationalist headline to play to the populace using foreign threats as justification to bring forward the procurement of 4 fighter aircrafts.

An Indian patrol party of the army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were detained and later released by Chinese forces after a scuffle between the two sides in Ladakh earlier this week, sources have told NDTV amid rising tensions between the two countries along the Line of Actual Control. The situation was finally defused after a border meeting of commanders from both sides.

2030? It's been under development since 1989. Despite plenty of Russian and Italian assistance (Nevsky Bureau practically designed the ship), it's still not finished after more than 30 years. So what's another 10 years to the Indians? Slow and steady wins the race, as they are fond of saying.
