That looks like Scott Adkins. a British actor and martial artist. He has done many films in Hong Kong and the UK, specialty being the bad guy.

A friend and I went and saw the movie.Neither of us understand Chinese, though we think tjat although it was portrayed in a Cantonese spoken setting.,the female lead spoke Mandarin in places.
I wonder if anyone can verify that.

Here's a Chinese trailer:

From what I can gather, this seems to be a prequel to the Legend of White Snake.
Seriously , This is the best chinese animated movie trailer i saw in a while. And look at the likes ratio. Most of the chinese movie trailer don't get that much likes in youtube. They definately stepped up the game.

If you got Netflix, I would recommend this cartoon. Scissors Seven has been getting some rave reviews lately and is quickly building up a following. The story is about a try hard wanna be assassin, who often not end up killing his victims but improving their lives. The humor has this off beat Stephen Chow-Hong Kong comedy sense of humor, if you like that sort of thing. The animation goes from Japanese shounen anime style to Western minimalistic style in a beat to suit the narration and situation.

I don't know if this is Netflix' first Donghua, as this isn't the first Chinese made anime on Netflix. The original title of this in China is Killer Seven.
