Hong-Kong Protests

I thought this is a pretty good write up addressing the thugs and their supporters, so I thought I share it here with you guys.

Reflections of a Hong Kong friend.

"Well done young democrats on winning almost all the District Council seats in Sunday’s election. I hope you appreciate the irony you achieved this through a lawful, peaceful and democratic process - the very freedoms you have, Chinese citizens do not, and the ones you and your international apologists so violently proclaimed had been stolen from you. It appears they were never stolen in the first place.

Now remember: District Councils are there to deal with the mundane but important little things that make our lives more simple and orderly in your electorate. Therefore my suggestions for your first order of business:

Fix the hundreds of traffic lights YOU smashed
Replace the miles of road railings YOU dismantled
Repair the acres of pavements YOU tore up
Dismantle the barricades YOU erected on our roads
Clean off the obscene graffiti YOU sprayed
Clean up the rubble and scorch marks from YOUR riots
Find something interesting around your feet to look at when the local police commander briefs the council on the surge in burglaries, vehicle crime, thefts and mugging because they have been too tied up dealing with YOUR lawlessness.

Sarcasm aside, this could be a catalyst for real change if, and only if, you do not mistake the voters overwhelming anti-establishment message as support for a continuance of violence and mob rule. If you make that mistake, you will undo your gains and only prove that you are incapable of reason and unworthy of further democratic freedoms.

Fingers crossed you will not squander this opportunity the voters have given you.
You have been proudly elected by the citizens. So please start cleaning up the shit that you have left behind”

This is the line on BBC news website.:

"Hong Kong protests: Aftermath of Polytechnic University siege".

The headline is very misleading. It try to lead readers to think the mess left behind was all due to the "seige" caused by the police!

No attempt of explaining that the "seige" was caused by the thugs:
Illegally occupying the university.
Voluntary enter the university on its own free will
Voluntary thrashed the university of its own free will.
In addition to the mess caused, there left behind plenty of illegal items and substances intended to cause death and injury to others.

If this had happened in a university in the western workd. The headline would have been:

Weapons found inside the university as well as wanton destruction causing millions of dollars in damages after the thugs have left the university!

Meanwhile, the heads of all the universities should resign ob the ground of mis-management alone for not seeeing this coming by their, either fostering, or very leaat, turning a blind eye to whats happening in their university!

Earning list of the principles. Can't verify, so take from it what you will.

I know the mods not going to like me posting it seperately from previous post. But i felt this ought to be given the spot light on its own.

When I saw the banner, my heart sank. Is there no limits to their stupidity?

u should learn the basics
I was quite invested and motivated in learning the language (simplified chinese) but the motivation fizzled out as i realized that my career plans wouldn't take me to China! n unforeseen reshuffle in plans. Now i'm heading to Europe. Hopefully, my Chinese adventure comes later. Shanghai United Imaging is in my sights.
oops for the OT.

What's with HK issue. I picked up that protests are still going on. That is ridiculous. I also learned that many district council elections were very close match and the difference in numbers were mere hundreds and thousands!
Also, young people might be overstating their significance since I learned that the window for registering in the elections closed months ago ( from SCMP comment section).
That means it was the traditional electoral base that "flipped".
I do not see a positive turn for pro-establishment camp as young radicals will register en-masse for the LegCo elections soon and they'd increase the vote share per seat for the pandems.

No bird shall fly over National Security and National Interests. NO BIRD.
Glad that I'm not in the core committee of CCP. I wouldn't be restrained a bit. Honestly, I don't know what the calculus is for the CCP.

Honestly, I don't know what the calculus is for the CCP.

IPOs.

Yesterday Alibaba raised 11 billion dollars in HK, and there are more Mainland IPOs in the pipeline.

CCP's plan is to vacuum up all the capitals in HK and bring them to the Mainland.
