I really don't think so?? I really don't, this airplane will deploy when the situation arises that "fits", although it will NOT sit in "reserve" like the raptor, they will exercise this aircraft soon, but a "demo"??? I just don't think that sounds like us,,, so do you have a source?

Demo requested by whom, and of whom, where??? Mid East
Word is they have been doing recon work in Somalia

anyway to me "combat" would be "for example bombing something in Syria with the Red Air Force around

In this case, probably the F-35B bombing something in Afghanistan from the USS Essex.

Syria will probably be for the next deployment of an ARG, IMO.

Oh don't be like that.

I understand what you mean and I was kidding around. The F-35 in Afghanistan is waaaay overkill. I completely agree and doesn't show off the capabilities of the jet. It does give mission experience to the pilots and if they are dropping bombs, they are in combat. Not high end combat, but combat.

The only places where there is likely to be any high end combat are Syria, the South China Sea and Iran. Perhaps in Korea, but that's a toss up on any given day. Iran and the South China Sea are more likely just to be folks flipping each other off for the time being: I don't see an Operation Praying Mantis any time soon. Syria, as we have already seen, has the chance for being a flashpoint, but most sides want to avoid that as much as possible.

TBH, by your criteria, no Chinese jets have seen combat over 25 years. Who knows how they will perform? Likewise, by that same standard, the Russian jets haven't seen combat since the Iraq war and those were export models and probably in bad repair. How do we know how they will perform? Do we think anyone's jets will perform better or as well as anyone thinks? Based on history, no one's jets will be as good as claimed. We will also see a whole bunch of capabilities we didn't know about either.

Nobody's jets have been in combat by your standards. That would require a high end, peer or near-peer fight. As much as I find militaria interesitng, that sort of combat is something I, honestly, hope the world avoids.

Wouldn't say that. As Jura points out the shoot down of Syrian/Russian Jets by Turkey and Isreal Israel as well as both there Gulf war and Balkens conflict use blooded Hornests, Rhinos, Vipers, Eagles and my all time personal favorite air to air kill the Strike Eagle pilots who dropped a bomb on an Iraqi Hind in flight. Well pretty much curb stomping there Russian counterparts. There is also the Iranian F14A that scored a good kill count against the Iraqis.

I may have overstated, but an Su-22 isn't exactly a big aaw platform. Given the age of the Su-22, if a Rhino couldn't eat it, I'd be mildly shocked.

The Israeli missions haven't been against actual Russian jets, rather against Syrian jets that are highly likely to be export versions. Maybe a bit upgaded, but probably the same sort of stuff the Iraqis used.
