Asian Americans have been politically weak since the beginning. Lack of involvement in voting is certainly a big factor. No politician will waste his /her time and energy campaigning for a group that won't even vote. Thus, no one will care about their core interests. One sure way of protecting your interests would be to vote and let the politicians know that you can potentially decide their future and make sure they protect yours. Asian Americans have been the forgotten group in the US partially because of their lack of political involvement. I am glad to see this is changing.

I have tried my best to convince my parents to vote. Unlike many older Chinese Americans described in the article above, my parents are highly educated and fluent in English. However, they have never voted. At every election in the past, I have tried to convince them to vote. They have never done it, making tons of excuses. And it was the same this time, which is very unfortunate.

Especially weird is that my dad has been a strong supporter of Trump. My dad has been so vocally supporting Trump from the beginning and advocating that the US needs to change. We have had many arguments about it. Some of them got quite heated. So I was very surprised that they again decided not to vote this time. I pressed them again last weekend about it and told them that they should vote if they wanted to make a difference. I even said it would be their fault if Trump lost. but I just couldn't get them to vote, which was very unfortunate...

I will write of this more as time progresses and as I feel up to it.

But my condition has now been diagnosed as terminal. The tumors in my liver and in my right breast muscle, as well as several more in my vertebrae and in my skin have made it clear that a cure is not going to be possible.

It will all depend on how aggressive the ones in the liver and my breast are an what else comes.

I will contuse to post an enjoy your camaraderie and friendship as long as I am able...and who knows, that could range from a few months to two or three years. In the end, it is in God's Hands and I trust His judgment.

As I say...time will tell.

I just checked this thread, and I'm greatly saddened to hear this Jeff.

Stay strong. However it goes forward from here I'm sure you'll tackle it with class and bravery.
