We all are Bubba, and I admire the young people who continue to join the military, some making it a career as did my old man, BD Popeye and others who love this country, and have placed their lives in harms way, doing what they love and have been trained to do!

Thank you Gentlemen, and I would encourage you all to read Popeyes Sea Stories, you'll get some chuckles, but also a sense of the dangers as well.

Thanks to Mollie one of the twins for helping me post this picture of my Dad here on the real life thread. He is after all the one who made me the AFB, love this guy, but you can see by the look on his face that he's in a bad spot here. Likely somewhere that we weren't "supposed to be" flying the Combat Talon One, the MC130-E, while working for MACVSOG. MACV took over many of the missions that Air America had previously performed, note that he is actually below tree top level, and the tension is "palpable" in this picture. He wasn't afraid of anything, but he is well out of his comfort zone.

Love you Daddy, wish you were here! miss this guy every day! an airmans, airman!

Brat, have you ever tried crop dusting or aerial top dressing.?
That should give you a bit of a buzz.

Well I used to fly through the front yard at the farm! I fly a little higher than I used too, my rule used to be a shallow approach, throttle open at 500ft to full accelerating to about 140+ with a fairly steep hard pull at the end, two passes, and two passes only!

I throttled up on the decent because many power failures occur as you "jam" the throttle open when you are low and bleeding energy. The throttle up on decent made sure that you had some altitude, I would gradually feed in throttle to full, and didn't have to worry about getting slow, of engine failure at 100 ft or less.

I have a private license so other than aerial photography, there wasn't much profit involved, although you can share expenses.

Thanks for serving bro...serving all of those years and then being true to that service all of these years.

You are a GREAT American my friend!

BD, Bub you looked like a Movie Star man! No wonder you had so much "chick trouble",,,, I've always said good looks were a curse, but I really wouldn't know! LOL and thanks for your service, first to your family, then our country, and your many years of Moderating SDF, you should get combat pay for that?? more importantly to our Lord Jesus Christ, gentlemen, BD is a real Christian, and a Servant of the Lord, I admire him as a fellow American, and as a Gentleman!

BD and Jeff Head exemplify Christian Patriots, loving their Lord, and loving us as their brothers, two of SDF's kindest, hardest working friends! Love you both, you each give me something to "shoot for" as a believer!

one a side note, I am a member of the church where my Dad served for many years as a "Deacon", one of the proudest days in my life was seeing him "ordained"..... as BD stated about his church, we had a short memorial service for our veterans living and in the presence of the Lord.

One of the young men, about 35ish said to me, "I love that picture of your Dad the most, of all the fine men, your Dad stands out to me the most." Its nice to be back in my home church, where many remember and love my Dad, a Navy veteran, overhearing his conversation said to me, "and you look just like him".....humbles me, even though I will never be the man he was, I had a true hero for a DAD!
